Not a drain plug but we had an intern that couldnt get something loose. Lead tech said to get the 1" and hammer on it. He goes to check on him later and hes literally hammering on whatever he was trying to loosen.

Oh snap.

At least the D8 has that plug in a 2 inch this steel portion of the housing.

Does it have LED lighting?  If so try turning out the lights.  My garage was fine until I installed LED lights.  Now I can see but the remote for the garage door opener won’t work due to the RF interference.

I was smacking the fill plug on a D8’s final, and the entire flat bit broke off.  On the bright side, I was able to take it out by hand.

That could get interesting... EV Sprinters come out end of the year, our shop is all LEDs and no light switch. They've been on 24/7 since we opened 5 years ago.

Well after roughly two months finally have resolution with my misfiring xterra. @scatterbrains and I got the suv to his place after I removed the o2 sensors and drove it over. Jacked it up and cut out the old cats. Strangely enough the nuts for the primary cats to the exhaust manifold all broke free with relative ease and no PB blaster. Everything else was cut. An evening of work and we had everything out and the two primaries bolted up before the rain ran us off.

Yesterday we got the secondary cats in and everything bolted up. Everything was hooked back up and test fire.

Clear the codes and she’s running like a champ.

The passenger primary cat shit the bed and ended up down in the secondary cat. This was where the clog was.

Now to repair the brake line that sprung a pinhole as soon as I started driving it to his house for repairs.

Probably the best bet. Unless a new distributor is cheap.

I stopped bothering with trying to loosen them the "right" way. Get a small groove across it with a sharp air hammer chisel then switch to a blunted one and rattle it out. I've been able to do this without ruining them and tighten them back with the square drive.

Does anyone know what the pan off refill capacity is on a 2017 gmc 2500 with the duramax/allison combo. I've seen 7.4qt online but I think that's just pulling the plug and replacing the spin on filter. I dropped the pan and replaced the pickup strainer also. I put 10qts in and it looks like I'm right in the middle of the hot and cold ranges at 140f trans temp.

People are shitting on me for trying to find headers

This time irl and not just ar15.com

I hate "Car People" most days

God fucking sakes one of the iron smog logs is slightly cracked and I just want some shorties for better flow, engine is not gonna go passed 400hp when I rebuild it anyway so I don't really need long tubes even if it would be cool as hell

And no, I'm not going to go find another 45 old piece of iron to bolt up to the Dang thing to replace the passenger side log that's cracked.

78 with the 460, last year of the passenger car 460 even, oval port heads rather than the square port truck heads of later years.

I just asked Justin at Apache Machine works, he will do the truck shorty but hasn't done an oval port. He suggested finding one of the shops that deals with tractor pull motors.

Welcome to the big money

At this job, I'm just a tech. At my last job, I was interim service manager 3 times, parts manager, on-call plow driver/mechanic, on-call mechanic for breakdowns within a 2-hour drive, after-hours coordinator of repairs of trucks/trailers on the road, load securement inventory manager and tarp repairer, vinyl cutter operator, and scheduled service coordinator. All for the low low cost of 1/3rd of what I make now.

Nice. It's been a minute since we've had any u/c work come through. I did have to convert a new 308 from rubber pads on steel tracks to all rubber on Friday. Pretty easy except getting the track on was being a pain.

So I was at the aiport, got on the plane to go to training... we got on the runway, turned around and went back to the terminal due to weather.  I waited around a bit, changed my connecting flight, and was texting my group, one of which was at the connecting flight's airport.  As the situation grew increasingly dim, I figured that I could drive there faster than I could fly.  Worst case scenario I drive there and get an extra hour of sleep.

Jumped in the Benz, and still flew to Jacksonville, just at a much lower altitude.  I didn't really have the tread depth to deal with rain, because I wasn't planning on driving, and I have a new set of wheels and tires coming to me later this month.

That 2006 E320 CDI will do 39.7mpg at 90mph.  At an average speed of 73mph for the trip down, it did 41.7mpg and the return trip netted an average speed of 63mph due to much worse weather but 42.7mpg.  I have little doubt that given the right conditions it could go a thousand miles on a tank of fuel.

I got 5 hours at the hotel and was off to take the entrance exam and then at 3:30pm back on the road to drive home.  What a shit show.
