Sounds like a pretty fair compromise. Not quite a full-blown "guarantee" per se, but better than getting fucked at the end of a crappy pay period.

Never heard of that before. Around here you would have 60 hours on your check.

Yeah it works out pretty good, especially since I'm new to the field (graduated from the local college in May with my associate's degree) and don't work as fast as someone with experience...although some things I have gotten much better on. Plus my boss is excellent at caring for his workers, but there is only me and him that are technically full time; his dad and the girl we have (who is also in the same auto program at the same school) are part time.

Had a big gravy ticket first thing. Complained of tranny shifting issue, I found none. Filters, plugs, ball joints and a failed audio head unit.

Couple other little things. Finally got some backordered parts in and cars gone.

I played with a makita impact today, and was impressed. Dollar for dollar I think its the best deal.

Got a new pair of work boots yesterday, and today my new flashlight came in to replace the one I lost 3 weeks ago. 90 dollars GONE.

I think things are going to get better soon. It just seems that way.

When I worked for a Chevy dealership back in the early '80s, it was either your flagged hours at your flag rate or your clocked hours at some small amount over minimum wage, whichever was higher.

Go with what brand you want. Next month makita (at least with Cornwell) is giving a free tool with the 311 kit. Free 1/4" quick chuck impact, saw zaw, angle grinder or radio. You pick one.

It sucks loosing flashlights for sure.

I ditched some of the stuff at a loss, took a few pieces home, and quit dealing with chicken shit tool companies and their dealers.

4 hour day. A 2003 SL500 with a failing ABC suspension. Someone left a hydraulic line connection loose. Cost him two hours and eighty bucks in fluid to fix that. He declined the other eight thousand in front end repairs it needed. I could move the right front wheel up and down nearly 3 inches with no resistance.

A used car checkover that declined everything.

Some other minor miscellaneous job I already forgot about.

Today sucked.

The boys from work came over and we sat out on the porch and bullshitted for two hours. That was nice. Everyone enjoys it and the change of scenery and lack of additional ears is appealing to several who attend regularly. Its not just a work bitch session though, we talk about a wide range of things.

Did a side by side of the milwaukee vs makita. The differences are slight. The price is not.

I had put a key and tumbler for the ignition in an SLK. We waited like 3 weeks for those parts. Customer came to pick up today. He was not happy. Apparently he had ordered his own parts, and we had them in stock the whole time. Not only did we have them, but due to a breakdown in communication, he actually did want the ignition switch and steering lock replaced. So I got to redo the job, and replace more parts because the advisor fucked up.

It was binding, replacing the tumbler only made it a little better. It was still sticking. After I got done with the other parts, it was like you could play darts with the key, and it would just slide right in and turn slick as the bolt on my mauser.

At the end of the day I had a broken tire pressure sensor with a broken valve stem. It was an integral valve stem and we were all out of $164 tire pressure sensors. I had to cut the sensor out of the wheel, then install a rubber stem to get him by until the replacement arrives.

Probably what we call a "low temperature heat exhanger" which is just for intercooling. The radiator at the rear is used for the engine. Thats how MB does it anyway.... seperate coolers for everything. It gets pretty thick front when you are talking of a forced induction AMG car. Oil, trans, suspension, intercooler (low temperature cooling circuit), power steering, a/c condenser. Then you might have a diff cooler out back too. Whole lotta hoses running around everywhere, but probably not as bad as all the hydraulics on a piece of heavy equipment.

Wow, long past couple of weeks. Lots of misc little jobs. Troubleshoot brakes on a 988G and found they have been setting the park brake with the machine still rolling and then they wonder why the park brake wore out. I'll have parts for that this week. Couple little coolant leaks on different machines. Spent 2 hours looking for a mystery leak yesterday on a loader. Couldn't find it leaking a drop.

Anyone do car audio? Looking at changing the deck in my work truck and want to find something that I can bluetooth my cell phone with so I can drive hands free. Just looking for some recommendations.

The big radiator is for the main engine cooling. The small radiator is for egr cooler and something else. Not the oil cooler though, that's part of the main cooling system.

Right behind where the left headlight goes is the air to water intercooler. Look for the blue boot, that is it. No longer in the front of the radiator and no longer air to air.

2 cooling systems totally independent of each other. 4 (that's right 4) thermostats. 2 water pumps.

LOL, you have no idea. On a 793 haul truck, the right side of the truck has the 2 rear brake coolers and the steering oil cooler, then above the engine flywheel housing one of the front brake coolers and the other front brake cooler is under the cab. Then there are 2 monstrous aftercoolers in the V of the engine. Then the radiator that weighs roughly 5,000 pounds. Also, the engine has an engine oil cooler and a hydraulic oil cooler and a transmission oil cooler.

Each of those coolers has coolant going in one end and out the other and then oil hoses in one end and out the other.

Crutchfield will include an adapter that you attach to the aftermarket stereo to plug it into the wiring harness of your car / truck. The extra cost is worth it.

Look on crutchfield, if you buy from them they include install kits, wiring ect. Or after looking there go to your local best buy, ect if you want to put your hands on it.

You ford, dodge or GM? What percentage is your current dealer at and how bad is it going to mess them up?

First day of school in our area, and somehow that translates in to 19 cars scheduled and less than 60 hours scheduled.

We had a ton of PDI's to do though.

I was lucky and flagged 8.8 with two B services and two PDI's.

We got a G63 AMG in. $135K. Looked pretty cool.

5 hour day. One 10k service. Installed dvd system in a vehicle with prewiring, except we had to install a system that didn't use prewiring....

Lube service on a charger R/T.

I traded off my snappy 3/8" for the makita set. Good deal. Came with a tool bag, I briefly asked for store credit, but then decided to just keep it. My underfolder will fit inside it I think. I then went outside and hacked up some pallets with the sawzall.
