I'm getting somewhat serious about the 2014 Ducati Hypermotard.  My wife hates motorcycles, but I really want one.

One of the bike mags just wrote that the new Yamaha FZ-07 is a waayyy better bike for the money.

And, you probably don't have to drive 2 hours to find a dealer to buy your expensive spare parts.

I don't know if it's better, but I'm loving my FZ-07.

Not finished with her (duh), and she actually had a different seat on her now

Huge plans for this bike over the winter

Hmm, edited the pic to get rid of my license plate on Photobucket, but it's still showing, with the correct updated URL.

This is why I will be getting an FZ-07 when more come on the used market. I demo'd one and loved it. But I still really like the Duke too. Oddly enough I am closer to a good KTM dealer than a Yamaha dealer. And I sold my KTM 250SX last year and ride a Yamaha YZ250 now.

Speaking of YZ250's, here is my 2013. It's quite a bit different from when I posted it a few pages back.

Nah, just an 883.  Cam upgrades, headwork, and a 1250 kit this winter, she's going to be a pretty powerful bike when Spring comes around.

Thank you!  Went to the dealership set on the denim black, but the sales guy had em rush to put together that one so I could see it.  The plastic cover was still on the tank.  It took me about 3 seconds to decide the Amber Whiskey is what I wanted, it's a great looking color.

I rode a stock forty eight this year, and I was impressed with it's power actually. It was a peppy bike. Not 450 supermoto peppy, or sport bike peppy, but it was no slouch either.

Big twins definitely give you the massive torque very early, so the "butt dyno" will be excited

Here's a sample 48 curve:

The thing is that you've got 5, 6, 700 lbs of leather and steel to get rolling, not including rider

That was pretty good, well done.

I'm just trying to get more power out of my Sporty, if I wanted to race I would have gone sport bike.  I know myself, I'd start doing seriously stupid shit on a sport bike.  I take jabs from my work homies on owning a Sportster, but privately, every single one of them knows I'm actually riding, it's raw and more 'pure' (their words, not mine) than being on a rolling sofa.  Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the Street Glides and other touring bikes are comfortable as hell with great features, but that's not what I want.  I just want to ride.  And I'm a shorter guy, so I worry about the height of some of those larger bikes.  I like my Sporty.  I was debating on selling her over the winter for a Dyna, but I just love the ride.  I'm working on power and comfort this winter, super excited for what she's going to be in the spring.

Naww, just put a comfort seat on the Pani.  All stock otherwise.  We would do 100 mile runs and then stop for gas and a quick stretch.  Didn't get too saddle sore.  That seat is a lifesaver.  Did a 70 mile stint on the stock seat once and was in agony.

We had 4 Ducs and one Beamer GS.

If you're going with Hammer, go for their 100+ HP package with 883 heads.

Your Iron weighs ~560 wet, so you'll need to take off some pounds, and stock 103's are closer to 65HP at the rear wheel - at least up to 2013 they were. Haven't seen any dyno's of any 2014+ yet.

Here's mine after a severe diet (now weighs 495lbs) and a Hammer 1250/Smash headwork:

^ Fuckin beautiful, I love it man.

I was actually going with NRHS, I send my stock heads to em for work, they send me their 1250 kit and cams, quoted 85-90 HP with my current pipes and air cleaner, I should hit 95hp with a better air cleaner, which will happen.

I'm trying to not play this as a numbers game, I'm not racing it, I'm going with what I've confirmed through a couple users and two different guys in the industry, Dan from NRHS and a guy from DK Customs, whose air cleaner I will put on.  I've had pretty detailed convos with both of em, and they both truly seem like standup guys in it for the hobby, and not the money.  I like knowing my cash is going to people like that.  Nothing against Hammer at all, I just haven't been instant messaged by them on the Harley board I've gone to about it.

Dan is a good guy, I've done business with him in the past - very passionate about Sportsters. I know Kevin from DK only by rep, which is outstanding.

NRHS used Hammer for all their headwork until they split (which was ugly and very public) and NRHS was way behind Hammer on the headwork for a while, but their new in-house guy is a CNC/hand finishing pro, so you'll get some top notch heads back.

Post your results here, I'd love to see the progress.

Will do.  Kevin, can't believe I couldn't come up with that name ha.  Oops.  And I will, it's great to hear another endorsement.  Super impressed with Dan, very patient and personable.

My other thing I'm looking at right now are shocks.  I'll spend the money on some Ohlins, but I was told to hit this company called Motorcycle Metal (I think) because they'll get me some custom Ohlins for my riding style and desired height, forgot to call them today.  That's what I've been nervous about is my ride heigh, I'm not a tall guy so I'm worried that between my Mustang seat (sent one back today, their Low Tripper, getting the Tripper in return hopefully) and new shocks, my seat would be a little high for comfort.

kinaed, who did your rear fender, or what all did you do to it?

My 883 is my only bike for now, I'll buy a bigger bike down the road and keep my sporty, so I'm going to have the 2-up capability on the sporty for now, but I'd love to do that down the road.

Motorcycle Metal does some crazy stuff. I really like their front end kits and BST carbon fiber wheels. I almost bought the BST wheels, but self-control got the better of me, and went with some light-weight GLIDE forged wheels instead. Not as cool as the carbon fiber (and not as light) but a good price/weight solution.

I went with 14" Ricor IAS shocks (sport tune) and their Intiminator valves with RaceTech springs up front. Really nice, all things considered.

I have Öhlins on my 675R, and love them to death.

The fender is a Rough Crafts "Iron Guerilla" (their spelling) model. Like it.

I began building this Airhead in May of 2011 and have just started riding it this last month for the shakedown prior to paint. It is a 1982 R100RT with 8" out of the tail and numerous other modifications.

I went from this:

That's looking pretty awesome. How's it running?

Right now it runs when I have some tuning work to do as the carbs are not quite right.

When I started on this I had only ridden it once up the driveway and I also changed a lot of stuff so tuning it is a pain. It has ford cop ignition and modules from a ford driving the coils.

All in all it is really fun to ride even if it is slow

You did a great job transforming it. She'll come around after a few rides, and you get all the bugs worked out.
