New bike day! Picked up a new 2013 CBR600RR from Southern Honda in Chattanooga for $1700 less than the local Honda shop. Plus they are just good people to deal with. It was a 6 hour drive from my home but it was worth it.

2008 YZ450F, sorry for the poor image quality.  I actually sold my camera equipment to buy this.

How'd ya sprain the wrist? You didn't get it wedged in a set of hand guards, did you? Or just a violent snap of the bars?

Tall wet grass, big mystery rock, street tires, graceful dismount
Basically like hitting a hidden 6" curb that wasn't there last year, pretty sure that snap is what did it.  It was my right wrist too, sprained it a couple good times before.
Did a sweet shoulder roll and popped up on my feet, I was only doing ~15mph.  Got a little lump in the front rim, nothing that can't be straightened.

Picked this up last week.  After 2 year bike break, it is nice to have one again.  2009 883L

Finally broke down and got x-rays after 3 weeks, any Arfdocs wanna comment?
Consistent improvement, but doc wanted me to leave in a cast due to inconclusive xrays,  just to be safe.  The chipped triquetrum is likely an old injury, the chipped scaphoid isn't a huge issue, but I'm getting a CT scan Friday to make sure the scaphoid isn't fractured across.

I'm going on a cruise in about a week, I'm right handed, I drive a manual and spend a lot of time on the computer and mill/lathe .  A lot of orthos don't seem to realize how much casts suck  In a better hard brace right now until my scan.

The last time I was in the hospital or in a cast was when I broke my little leg at 9 months old exploring stairs...

Did the same thing when I broke my wrist two years ago,  you gotta get home.

You know whats going to suck,  when they pull the cast off and you find out you don't have ANY range of motion in the wrist.   It took at least three weeks for me to get it moving correctly again.

That's why I haven't let them put a cast on me, not until I get the CT scan and a hand specialist telling me I need it.  Rocking a brace right now.

Swap to one of those thumb throttles like on a 3-4 wheeler and you'd be good to go

My bad, I was thinking if you were wearing a cast you could just pivot your arm/hand enough to work the lever. What about one of those throttle rockers where you use the palm of your hand?

I had to have pins and a cast after a motorcycle crash due to some badly dislocated bones in my hand. As was mentioned afterward my range of motion was virtually non-existent. After a few weeks of physical therapy though all was well. I'll see if I can find the nasty post-cast photos later.

Here is one that shows the swelling:

Yuck, yeah my swelling wasn't anywhere near that bad, and was gone within a few days, the bruising was gone within about 10 days.  Only went and got xrays because it was still a bit tender after 3 weeks.  I had picked up one of those neoprene/velcro braces with the one aluminum flat in it, now I'm in a much better one with a thumb wrap, probably going to end up in a cast after going to the hand center monday.

Thing is, we get on a plane saturday for our family Alaskan cruise...

Hope you guys heal up quick.
Anyway...
Traded my 2001 Softail for a 2014 Dyna Low rider with ABS.
They gave me Full retail price for my 2001 so I'm happy.
I've always wanted one, I'm glad they brought the low rider back.

Made some more changes:

Swapped out the old Ricor shocks for a set of custom made 14" Ricors, chopped the frame and added a new fender.

Weight is an estimated 495lbs now - not bad at all for a Harley, but need to find a local scale to get an accurate measurement.

At 103HP/87TQ, it's a handful, and surprisingly nimble with quick turn-in and good lean angle now.

Eats twinkies for breakfast.

A couple things I didn't like, one was the stock exhaust...it is too quiet (it's got to go)
I'm not into obnoxiously Loud exhaust, but I like to have that Harley sound at least.
The seat bolster, moves you forward and I felt awkward riding it home like that.
(It is removable, so that was the first thing to go).

Things I like:
The 103 engine
Improved location of the rider pegs
ABS brakes! Dual discs up front.
Michelin scorcher tires
Adjustable riser and handlebar

I was a little bored in the middle of the night and it was warm and nice outside with just a hint of heat lighting so I went out for a short ride. Knew the rain was coming and Id better do it then if I wanted to get in my Sunday ride. It was a pretty good run for 4am. I skirted around a town close to me and dipped in for some pics with good lighting. I need a lot of practice on my night photography. I think these shots would have been better if I had used my phone.

I've been eying this model, too.  Sounds like a blast.  Dealers here already have them listed for $6500... I will not have money for such a purchase for quite some time, though!

Just curious, but other then the lower price why go with the FZ-07 over FZ-09?

Depending on your riding style, significantly better fuel mileage and smoother fueling.
They will get the FZ-09 dialed in sooner or later, I still want one...

Just curious, but other then the lower price why go with the FZ-07 over FZ-09?

Thanks

I'm starting to like the sound of the '07 for my needs in the near future.

I like the 2 cylinder motor a lot, they ride real nice and have a great exhaust note. It looks like the fuel mileage is great and the insurance costs are low. It's the kind of bike that has a good balance of easy to ride and lots of fun. At 75 hp it fills a nice role left by the SV650N.

After putting 50 miles on mine today through various terrain, I can attest for the great performance.  It's torquey as hell, so I had to be careful about the throttle.  There was still reserved power at all gears (6), but I'm still getting used to it so I'll save more on that later.  I'm a newer rider, so I picked this over the FZ-09 because this seemed a little more manageable.  The 09 is a beast by all accounts; I'm not quite there.

Good on you for recognizing your limitations.

I like it, but I'm not quite sure where Yamaha is going. FZ6R, FZ7, FZ8 (discontinued), FZ9, and FZ1 (which I have). I keep wondering which one is next on the chopping block.
