Looking for a Ford Bronco just to run around in.  Found this on Craigslist
https://lasvegas.craigslist.org/cto/5742567904.html
Had it listed last week for $3k.  down to $2k. now

Here's his writeup of what didn't work:
Heater works great. The a/c doesn't have a compressor but the fan can blow air.
Windows won't roll up/down. Definitely an easy fix.
New water pump. But a slow leak in the coolant system
Runs great, small start up issue. Just with how you hold the key.

Well I bought the Bronco.
Paid him $1300 instead of the $2k he was asking.
I saw a couple of drops of oil on the ground under the truck and after the test drive it didn't start right back up.  I told him those 2 things concerned me enough that I would walk.  I'd pay him $1k if I had to tow it, but if he wanted to drive it to my house (28 miles away) I'd pay more.  He wanted $1500, I said $1300 and he said yes.

Took the battery to get it tested, and the truck made the drive.

How much $$ do you think I'd need to put into it?

Given what he has said is wrong with it, and what is probably wrong with it that he hasn't said, is it worth looking at?  HIs post below.

"Hello there, I have a 1987 Ford Bronco. I've owned it for over a year and have loved it. The only reason I'm selling is, I have bought a more gas efficient vehicle.

Interior is great, small rip in the driver seat. Lots of dog hair I can get rid of that.

Vehicle speedometer says 42,xxx miles, I bought it at 34,xxx

The Tires are new $800

upgraded the stereo mp3 $100

New brake pads, drums, shoes, roters. $600

Water pump $40

Clean title

The issues

Heater works great. The a/c doesn't have a compressor but the fan can blow air.

Windows won't roll up/down. Definitely an easy fix.

New water pump. But a slow leak in the coolant system

Runs great, small start up issue. Just with how you hold the key.
I Used this as my everyday transportation for the majority of the time i owned it, But it's been 2 months I need it gone. That's the reason it's priced accordingly."

made hot.

you can probably fix that crap for under 300 yourself, minus the A/C

miles seem low, unless you can confirm on the title.

I'd take a look at it, especially since its 4wd.

Maybe I missed it but what engine does it have?

If it runs good and passes smog the price is decent. Don't think there were any bad motors around then. 4.9,5.0,5.8. All have ups and downs but will do just fine.

Depending on what you want to put into it the work will be endless. Most likely the whole front end and suspension need love. As well as all fluids. I imagine AC is a must have down there so price it too.

Around here, with no rust, that would have been gone already.

The perfect vehicle for a Dana 60/Sterling swap, that TTB front axle is horrible.

I don't know if I would call them horrible. Lot better with coil springs as opposed to leaf springs like they did on the F250s

It had a circuit breaker type fuse in the fuse box.  1 trip to the auto parts store and $5 later, all the windows work.

I forever regret not buying my dad's 88 XLT when he offered it to me for basically nothing. Had a brand new 5.0 EFI long block and C6, showroom quality tan interior.  FUCK

I learned how to drive on dad's previous 87, many great road trips as a kid in that truck.
