I used to have a '92 Ford Ranger in teal, whipped around corners in that thing like nobody's business.

Toyota used to offer a factory supercharger as an option on the Tundra.

The F150 Tremor is suppose to be a modern day Lightning. I believe the suspension and body are the same as the regular f150's unlike the lightning.

They are fun trucks to drive, and handle very well for what they are.

Personally, I would build an older Tacoma regular cab.  Add some long travel suspension and then see how much damage I could do.

Supposedly for 2016 the Chevy 1500 will be available with an 8-speed auto and a version of the Corvette Stingray engine.

That should be interesting.

Two-wheel-dive/standard cab ...................

Yes, there's one sitting in my driveway.
It's a crew with the standard box, so I don't know if I'd say it was sporty.
Getting on the highway is fun.

You can only get it in the LTZ trim and above, and there's no regular cab version of the LTZ.

What drfcolt is probably referring to is that the 8 speed will be available with the 5.3l engine in select trim levels.
In 2015 the 8 speed could only be had with the 6.2l engine, in 2016 the 8 speed can be had with the 5.3l. I believe it's restricted to LTZ trim and above due to availability of transmissions. I believe the plan is to expand to lower trim levels later.
So it's probably going to be at least another model year before we have a shot at a regular cab with the 8 speed, at least, from the factory.

Wait (it will be a while) for the new Honda Ridgeline.  It was promised by next Fall -- we'll see.  It will have AWD, Independent suspension on all four corners, excellent gas milage (for a truck), superior reliability, great ride and handling (for a truck).  We will have to wait for the details.  But, waiting is what I'm doing and will continue to do 'til it arrives.

I guess it depends what you mean by sporty. The weird weight balance and suspension meant to carry loads means it costs a bunch of money and effort to make them go around corners.

If you just want something fast, buy a used Chevy and throw an eBay turbo at it and it'll be hilarious. That is a pretty cheap combination and has been done a ton, so there is info all over the Internet.

I want one with the 4.6 and 4x4...
All the Adrenaline package SportTracs I see around here are 2wd V6s.

Maybe I'll wait for a new Ranger.

I dropped a  383 crate motor into a 20 year old shortbox chevy, put  Holley 950 CFM  EFI on it.

Cheap,  and a LOT of fun with a good tight positraction  rear.
