The truck is the Ranger/Camper Special model that has the three fuel tanks and a ZF 5-speed that was installed when the 4BT (35,000 miles) was swapped for the 460 that was originally in it. It has A/C and the grid heater from a 6BT motor so it should be fine to drive when it's hot out and be able to start when it's cold out. I'm not sure what gears are in the truck but he says that he can get mid-25's for MPG while on the highway without trying too hard. It will need 4 fender patch panels for rust as well as a little rust on a cab corner and a previous owner had installed a sun roof so that would have to go.
I plan on seeing this truck in the next week or so as I work with the guy who owns it and is not in that big of hurry to sell it, we have not discussed a price yet either so I don't know what something like this would be worth. Does anyone have any experience in owning a truck w/4BT swap and what their thoughts were, would they do it again and what changes would they make if they did it again? I know this truck would not be a speed demon or a stump puller compared to the 6BT but I'm just looking for a reliable diesel 4X4 truck to haul things around for my wife, load up camping stuff to take out to our property in Idaho, be able to pull a motorcycle sized trailer and act as a BOV if needed. TIA
