I'd eat ramen for a month just so I could lose my license in that car.

Sell it and buy a GT350 with whatever I got....

Saw it was tax issue for not being able to cover monetary value of prize.     I would make it happen.

But that is a definite issue.    I enter every year for the WinTheMustangs.    They give extra cash to use towards taxes on the value of the cars.   Bur seriously, that is just additional cash on top of the prize value anyhow that likely requires taxing as well I would think.

I'd sell that car, too.

at $68,900 he has it way under priced. One with like 15,000 miles just did almost $80 or $85,000 at a mecium auction last week. Considering they are bringing $25,000 over sticker right now $70,000 is a good buy.

Yup. No interest in any Chrysler product, regardless of what's under the hood or who has scribbled on the dash.

I'm sure he is hoping for a bidding war from those who want one now.

The local car review show loved the thing.

Used cars selling for 82K.

I'd have a FSA army relative claim the prize if possible, pay their income tax on it, give them an extra $1000 for their trouble, then buy it "used" from them to lessen the tax bite

Id sell it to. I had my fun in fast cars, its just not something I'm into. Id sell it and use the proceeds to buy the new Tundra TRDPro that I've been lusting after.

$70,000?  I would probably sell it too and buy a badass truck, about break even.

Taxes $4,200 in MI.

Insurance, what $1,000 a year?

I'd sell it too, and buy something nice and practical with the cash. I wouldn't want to daily drive a car like that, especially in Iowa winters. No Garage so I would worry like hell every time we had a storm, we get lots of hail and other fun stuff all the time.

If I had the place to store it however, it would stay and I would enjoy the hell out of it until I killed myself with it.

I don't think he's referring to taxes necessary to register it, but the income tax you have to pay when winning something like that. Many people that win exotic cars end up selling them and using half the cash made from the sale just to cover the taxes you get hit with.

exactly.

income tax based on the value of the car.

for some people it throws them so far out of their tax bracket they couldnt hope to afford it.

When I was in high school a local guy won some uber rare Camaro. It was before the crazy days of 1 million dollar muscle cars. The value of the car was $200,000

Back then our state license fees were based on the vehicles values so besides the income tax on winning a car, the license fees were $20,000 per year

He had to sell it. Too bad he could not afford to keep it because the car sold 10 years later for close to 1 mil.
