the battery in my car decided to give up the ghost. It was a Napa legend 75 and the guy at the counter about fell over when he saw how old it was. Hopefully the new Napa Legend I bought will last as long...

Finally a post worth reading, gives me hope I can get longer then 3 years out of my new one. Don't think I have gotten five out of any battery I have purchased. Could be the Las Vegas summers though

The stock battery in my '97 F150 lasted until 2008 (11yrs.). It would have lasted longer, but I added a 700W amp and a 12" subwoofer three weeks before the battery died. The original alternator went out 2 weeks after that

I just replaced the original battery in my '07 Ram as well. Only because we had a few nights coming up that were going to be in the negative digits last month....didn't want to take a chance. Got a brand new Platinum battery for $32...so I said might as well...

I sincerely wish you luck with the new battery, and hope you get a long life out of it.

I haven't had a NAPA battery last longer than 3 years in recent times(within the last 10 years).

97 Toyota corolla. Lasted through the montana winters and summer months.

The original battery in my 03 Ranger made it until November of 2013. I was impressed.

Factory battery in my1990 Ford PU made it 9 years,10 months, and that was, by far, the longest I've ever had one last.

So you were driving around with a battery that old... Did you have it's replacement with you or did it leave you stranded?

My truck was still cranking good at 9 years old, but I changed it so I wouldn't get stranded.
I replaced the original one in my 99 car when I got in 07, but I've been driving around with a spare new one for at least a year now waiting for it to die...

It died at the house. I could tell it was getting bad as it was starting to turn over slow. I pulled it, charged it and load tested it before getting rid of it.

A few days ago I replaced the battery in my 02 4Runner. The date on the battery was '04. I was most impressed.

My 2000 Silverado had a OE replacememt approaching 8 years old. Was still starting, but struggled in the cold. Finally had to put her down.

Ive gotten surprising performince out of the Walmart batteries. 5 years on average. Not bad for the price.

I didn't even think these numbers were possible, having lived in Texas or Arizona with the exception of 2 years in Michigan, the longest I ever had a battery survive was 5.5 years in an ML350. And it only lasted that long because it was mounted under the passenger seat away from the engine heat.

Typical is 3 years, if it survives the summer heat or winter cold, it may make it to the next major temperature change, then 3.5 years and its done.
