Well I won't be of much use here since I have a 2014 GT with the track pack and 6speed manual. I say go for it! I love the way my car drives and the 400+ hp does not get old . You only live once and you can't take your money with you so buy the car and enjoy it as much as you can .

Seen two 2015s with the yellow with black wheels package. Really nice. Seen a couple with red with black wheels too. Not ruby red though....I would get the yellow!!!!

BTW, if you are considering getting one DO NOT get the ones with the Recaro Leather Seats. The seats are very narrow for the back rest and uncomfortable. I've had great service from ford vehicles my whole life. Never had a major failure of any kind.
Assuming that new Mustang is a 5.0, I say go for it! They are really refined. If the car fits you, why is there a question? |

Sort of irritated about the fake engine sound through the speakers, but that's fixable. |

Yep, the GT does not have the fake engine noise piped into the cabin;' that is only the EcoBoost car that has that feature. As for those who say to take the baffles out of the sound tube; I say just do away with the sound tube all together!!!! My car is only a 14 GT, but I deleted the sound tube and it makes the engine bay soooooooooo much cleaner looking. There are companies that sell kits to do this that include a cap to cover the hole on the intake side and a rubber cap to plug the hole in the firewall. I purchased this kit: http://www.cooltechllc.com/ford-boss-302-parts-accessories/35-mustang-sound-pipe-delete.html. I used a black zip tie to hold the intake cap on instead of the big silver hose clamp the kit comes with, just to make it a little cleaner looking. If you're a little more patient, you can go to Home Depot and source all of the parts separately and probably save a couple bucks. Again, I know my car isn't the same year as yours, but here is how my engine bay looks with the sound tube deleted:
Before- After- Oh, and I didn't notice any difference in noise, but that could be because I dropped my stock mufflers for GT500 axel back cans! Congrats on the purchase! |

Local dealership was dumb enough to toss me the keys to a 5.0 Perf Pack 50th Anniversary in white for a test drive.
Few things I like and a few I do not. It was a loaded premium. Air conditioned seats are NICE. Definitely worth getting. I sat in an Eco Boost with the Recaros and instantly didnt like them. I am too big for them. Stock leather premium seats are nice enough. The rear window takes getting used to. I have WAY more visability out of my 95 Cobra and 05 GT. The rear glass on the 2015 looks huge from the outside but is tiny from the outside. The mirrors seem inadequate all around. Way to limited a view. It combines with a huge hood to make it seem like you are driving a much bigger car than any mustang of the past. The 5.0 is quiet. Too quiet for me, aftermarket exhaust would be a must. Clutch is light. Way lighter than my manual clutch 95, my 05 GT which I just put a higher rated clutch and throw out bearing into, and my 07 Tacoma. Supposedly the light clutch is due to some helper spring on the pedal. I would ditch it, no feeling for the clutch at all. The shifter kinda sucks, a better shifter would be a must for me. Car handles well and scoots though. Suspension could do with a bit stiffer springs and shocks for my liking. But into a corner or two at speed and it is way more neutral than my 95 or 05 in same situations. I liked the fact that I could get some oversteer on deceleration/lift off of the gas pedal. Went from under steering slightly under mild acceleration mid turn to starting to get a little over steer if I wanted to. I didnt get stupid with it but between the power that was available and the handling the car was exhibiting I could do a hell of a lot more with a bit more steering input and a little playing with the throttle. The tech crap drives me nuts. I would HAVE to have the shaker system, I grabbed my usb drive from my 05 to take on the drive. Plut it in and the first thing sync tells me is that it wont play copyright protected crap. Shut up and play stupid. I dont need a touch screen for air conditioning. Just manual controls for god sake. Dont need the navigation shit either. They could do a lot to ease the file structure for playing USB/mp3 or choosing files. Maybe it was something in options. Hacking the PC for the center console display to make it just a back up camera and a stereo with a background image of your choosing would be nice. If a Samsung phone lets you clear the clutter or add to your home screen the stupid car touch screen should be set up in a similar way. Let me drag shit from a file onto and where I want it. It is little shit like that which makes me appreciate my non-sync "stupid" cars a whole bunch. The interior is beautiful. Love it. But hate sync. All I need/want is a good sounding stereo and the Shaker is 90% good enough for me, an extra sub would be nice. Still not sure how I feel about push button start and the self sensing key thing. Strangely, the steering wheel seems too small as well. Awesome looking car. Soon I should be around 10k saved, of a goal of 20-30k, towards something. Truth is I want to wait to see what becomes of the GT350. |

As for the NAV, it's great and I love the fact that I can talk to my car and it understands the commands that I am giving it. I traded a 2014 Honda Accord V6 with everything in it and it also had voice commands as well, but nothing like my Mustang. So much more advanced. I can control just about everything with my voice and I like that. As for how the car sounds, to me it sounds great the way it is. I'm not one to try and make it louder. And make it louder for what? So I can draw attention to myself? No thank you. The car does that already with it's looks. I'm not an attention hog. I think it has a good balance of looks and sound without being to over bearing. As for the performance. I like that too. I did not get the PP as I couldn't tell the difference between one with and one without and I test drove both. I'm not one to go racing around on the streets or put the car on the track so why pay $2500 for something I don't need. For me the car performs great just the way it is. So far I am quite happy with it. |
|
I wasnt trying to be critical of your choice. It is that I finally got a chance to drive the car after 6 months of waiting.
The tech and fidgety shit really made me appreciate my dumb 05 and really dumb 95. Turn on car, twist knobs for stereo/ac, done, drive. As for loudness, my other cars are more than loud enough to hear above the wind noise with the windows rolled down while at speed on the back roads. But the 2015 GT is almost too quiet by comparison even with the windows rolled down. Caught myself looking at the dash for cues on engine revs for down shifts. My other cars I dont have to do that. I would want the shaker audio but not if it means being forced to get things like collision avoidance system and other bundled stuff. I will definitely be a Perf Pack buyer if I do a GT. Probably premium as well for the leather interiror. Not sure on tech options. Waiting for the GT350 and to see the options and configurations. |

Did you pull out the clutch pedal spring yet? Just do it! You won't believe the difference.
|
|
I've heard that the clutch spring being pulled in the 2015's makes a huge difference. Is it the same case with the 2014s? I am under the impression that it's the same impression. If you pull the spring, how easy is it to get back on? I'm concerned about teaching my wife how to drive a stick so she can drive my Mustang and the clutch being too heavy for her.

October f me. I will be looking at a premium gt w the perf package. The bembos alone are worth it.
I would seriously consider an after market exhaust. Borlas by ford racing are what you want. The touring exhausts to be specific. Right now your exhaust is being artificially quieted by the resonator-which all it does is tamp down the sound and leeches horsepower. The aftermarket exhaust ditches that thing and you save 30lbs and your motor is getting another 10 hp |

Better feel for clutch rather than an empty and vague weightless pedal that is either "off" or on. My 95 with manual clutch you can feel very well when the clutch is engaging. My hydraulic clutch 2005 GT that I just replaced feels pretty good but the aftermarket throw out bearing and clutch is mostly responsible for that, hugely improved over stock. The 2015 clutch is just sad. If you dont have a lot of experience with manual versus hydraulic clutches, the 2015 is probably completely indifferent to you. But for me, with 3 different clutch based vehicles, the 2015 would make me look stupid every time I got into it or if I drove it a bunch then I would look like an idiot in my other clutched vehicles. A bit of clutch feel is nice. |

Did you pull out the clutch pedal spring yet? Just do it! You won't believe the difference. I have not done that... and doing that benefits me how exactly? go read this thread The spring is there to reduce the pedal pressure. Problem is, it kicks in at a different time than the clutch starts engaging and you can't feel the clutch. Got out of an SN95 with a cable into the '15 and felt like a retard driving a manual for the first time. Also, if you feel some "Notchy" shifting in 1st through 3rd, (usually under 50 degrees weather it does it until it is warmed up) drain the trans fluid and replace it with BG Syncro Shift I just had the dealership do mine today and oh man, what a difference! Butter smooth shifts now! Fluid was $60 from a AAA service center and the dealership charged me $40 while they were changing the oil today. If you are into the old school shift knobs, Speed Dawg made this one for me for $50. Check out their website. That metal top on the stock know will burn the shit out of your palm this summer. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y157/ScottsGT/DCEDD78A-BDF6-4EFE-AAAC-C91C1B03AF3A_zpseqhjwvcn.jpg Get an MGW or Hurst billet when they are available. Those are some nice shifters, but a bit pricy for the guy that just drives his car to work everyday and never hits the track. $500 is a big chunk of money for someone that doesn't slam his shifter. Only plastic part is the wedge for the reverse lock out, but it does look like Ford said "Good enough...." For this design. But the MGW is an engineering marvel. Maybe one day...... But I do have an MGW in my '66 T5. Great products. |

I could never understand why anyone could buy a Mustang when they could have bought a Corvette. What a bonehead move. |

View Quote I haven't checked the numbers, but if your talking a newer year corvette, there's no way the price would be any where near close. I think the 5.0 mustang is about most horsepower per dollar you can get. |

I broke mine trying to install a shift knob (the threading was wrong and it got stuck, broke coming off!).. What a nightmare!!!! I've got a "rip-off" of the Steeda kit in the car now (SR Performance marketed through American Muscle). Way better shifting! |
