Reminds me of that joke....

Q. How many KLR owners does it take to ford a river?

A. Three, one to ride, one to help out, and the other to go back and pick up the milk-crate pannier that fell off when the Harbor Freight strap broke.

Picked up a new KTM 690 enduro r about a month back. Awesomely powerful machine for an enduro. Coming from riding a RM250, so this fit nicely. A week after riding, I gave it a proper new look

After a little plasti dip. Best part is it protects the stock plastics and you can peel it off if you need to redo it/don't like it anymore.

Very very nice. I've considered selling both of my bikes and picking one of those up with a set of sumo wheels.

I think I might hold out for the new Husky 701, which is basically a warmed over, tweaked out 690...

I've read that is essentially the KTM with a few different body panels and tail light. Oh, and a quoted 67hp vs the ktm 66hp

Never the less, a very bad ass looking bike! It will be interesting to see what the price point will be and availability in the US

Went
for a local ride on the Strom today – it was a hot one, about 94 degrees and
plenty humid. Did about 150 miles on the loop and took a few pics in and around
the Wilderness Battlefield in Virginia:

Confederate
trenches on Hill-Ewell Drive just north of Locust Grove, VA:

Battlefield markers near the Hill-Ewell/Orange Plank Road
intersection:

A nice shady spot – aahhh…

Abandoned house somewhere along the route – I didn’t notice
the bird on the roof until I got home and uploaded this pic:

Another
abandoned house just off Orange Plank Road on the way to Mine Run.  These abandoned places are found all over
rural VA and for some reason I think they’re pretty fascinating – just imagining
the history they’ve been part of and how life used to be when they were
actively occupied.

All in all – another day well spent riding around the
Virginia backroads

MILK CRATES!!! I resent that!!!!!!

Try ammo cans, broken old molle packs, misc tools bags and other assorted flotsam but no MILK CRATES!!!!

What do you think, we're cheap?

They found metal in my Griso's oil so its getting warranty work done for the next few weeks. Decided to look at craigslist monday when I found out I was bikeless for now and ended up with this in my garage before sundown.

had to add a sticker of my own, although I am going to try my hand a wrapping the thing with some 3m vinyl.

Found a nice ford today at Sherando, VA.  There was a concrete built up spot you can see in this picture I took after crossing, but I decided not to use it and came across just to the right of it where all the dirt is stirred up. It was a little deeper than I'd expected - kept my feet on the pegs and got my knees wet...

I was riding by myself today, so didn't get a pic of the crossing, but here's the Strom afterward.....

I've got the Strom pretty well farkled out, and have taken it a few places where I had no business being I think I need a WR250 so I can go back and properly re-ride the places where I've had some "Oh-shit" moments on the bigger bike.

Had a great day on Sunday riding with my brother and his 12/yo son and a great old childhood friend we call "the legend" because he has been riding for so long and is a wealth of information. We took our bikes down to his own personal riding property that is set up perfectly and of course we were the only ones there (no worries about anybody else).  Being with him was great because it was the first time for me with my new bike (the one on the left) and me riding enduro and so it was a training ride for me and it was excellent.  He really took his time with me and my bike and I learned so much.  He also checked my bike and it needs a few minor adjustments I think (and I need quite a few myself) but the whole day was worth gold in the info he gave me. Not only that, but just to be with them was a blast and although they didn't know it...it was my birthday. PERFECT!

Anyway, this was on a break (my bike is a Husky TXC250 on the left, my brothers Honda CRF450 in the middle, and the legend's 2-stroke KTM 200 on the right. The rider in the background is my nephew on his CRF150 rippin it because he just doesn't stop and is made of rubber)

Damn man, I like your setup! I don't have anything on mine yet as far as bags. And I really need to get the mirrors you have. Lookin good though.

I just received the SMC orange street wheels a few days ago. Rear wheel was bent to hell upon arrival Idk what or when it happened, but they're sending me another one. From Austria. For another 6-8 week wait.

Just picked this up, made it home to give it a bath.

Pretty much rode it home washed it and headed off to work.

This is how I made it home from shift ( picture is actually after surgery). Workers comp. Dr says it'll be 3 months before I can ride. Sucks major, the wife and I had a long ride planned for labor day weekend, well that didn't happen. Really blows have a brand new set of wheels and can't ride. I'm pretty sure the Dr is wrong about the 3 months though. As soon as the left arm can reach the bars I'm riding.

I'm a little confused on the order of events here - you posted yesterday
after just picking up a nice KTM, washed it and headed to your shift,
but then something else happened where you got injured on your shift,
but couldn't do the long Labor Day weekend ride, which was a couple
weeks ago, but you still have a brand new bike you can't ride? Not
troubleshooting, just curious - did I miss a thread somewhere else?

Anyhoo - nice bike!

Yeah I guess that was confusing.  I picked the bike up the Weds before Labor Day, Thurs (the next day) at work I was injured. Since then I've had surgery on my arm ( arm picture is after surgery), I finally just now got to posting. I blame the confusion on the Crown and Oxy.

But yes, I've rode the bike exactly one time and according to the Dr. I can't ride for around 3 months.
