This is my new money pit.  A 1982 Jeep Scrambler.  I believe it has a skyjacker 4" lift and ProComp wheels and tires.  So far I have replaced all brake lines, calipers, pads, wheel cylinders.  I also just replaces hub seals and bearings on the pass side front.  I also upgraded the headlights to H4 bulbs, and installed a suitable wiring harness for them.  Next is to replace all of the steering components.  The steering is sketchy at best.  It looks rough, but there is very little real rust on it.Attachment Attached File

Nice!

Hopefully that rocker and corner armor isn’t hiding anything or at least too much.

It isn't hiding anything.  That is why I got it.  The only non surface rust on it is on the bulkhead, and the junky YJ doors that were on it.

My JK is my first jeep and over time I've really come to appreciate some of the older wranglers. That scrambler in particular has all sorts of awesome potential.

I daily a JKU and also have a YJ so I know what you mean. I love driving the YJ around town with no doors however driving it longer distances can really suck compared to the JKU.

I've been using the scrambler as my dd when I'm not working on it.  I've also used it to deliver pizza at my part time job.  I'm not going to lie, yesterday sucked.  It was 100 and I worked from 10AM to 8PM.  It would be fine for long trips, but it's not so great at stop and go driving in the heat.

My first aftermarket purchase for the JK, the 67 Designs double ball mount.  I'm using the spring loaded phone attachment for now, but the 2nd ball allows me to mount another phone, GPS, tablet, etc.

It's a very solid mount.  The balls are metal, the clamps aluminum, and the arms carbon fiber.

I took my YJ out to the local offroad park this past weekend.  I've taken this Jeep through about everything there is to put it through on our 500 acre ranch, but the "beginner trail" at this park was tougher than anything I'd done before.  Being carbureted really hurt me on a bunch of the steep hill climbs, and I definitely need lockers.  I still had a blast, though.

I don't.  I hope to have a passenger next time that can get some pics.  I was too busy trying not to die

ETA:  And "tough" for me and an old jeep with open diffs is probably pretty easy for a lot of the rigs in here.

Got any wondering sway bar issues. I probably just need a competent alignment shop to adjust my track bar then do the alignment.

I keep my antirock on the second loosest setting all the time, never had any issues. Aligned mine with 2 aluminum square bars (35” long, same as tires), some clamps and two tape measures. Toe set to 1/16”. Just measured until I was satisfied with the track bar.

I also run an Anti Rock on my XJ and keep it at the mid way point.  I run out of up travel in my wheel wells long before it limits my travel.  I also do the same for a front end alignment: jack up front axle, pull tires, clamp 2x2 angle iron to rotors, tape measure.  Set to 1/8" toe in.  I daily drive 37" BFG MTs and it runs down the road pretty dang good considering.

Picked this up from a buddy of mine Sunday.  We had it running and driving two years ago, but it’s been sitting since then. I got the brakes up and got it cranking earlier in the week but it’s not getting fire.  I hope to get it running this weekend.

Not really sure what my plans for it are yet.  I may get it running and driving and flip it or I might upgrade the brakes, add lockers and four wheel it. I might even order a new tub and restore it. It was completely gone thru twenty years ago and probably hasn’t been driven a 500 miles since then. It’s been in my buddy’s family for over 40 years.

Got the CJ2a cleaned up and running and driving today.  Pumped out the old gas, set a new battery in it, filed the points and she fired right up.  Still haven’t decided what route I’m going with it but at least it runs and drives.
