From a non-rubicon??

Sport(S) owners usually start with replacing the suspension, then tires followed by final drive gears.

Sahara owners are usually the option addicts of the jeep world and stay stock. If you cant get close enough to see the "Sahara" badge, the painted fenders will give it away.

I'm not sure I'm tracking you.

The wheelbase is stretched to 119" if that's what you mean.

Front axle moved forward, rear axle rearward.

Wheelbase is king when you're wheeling in the Ozark Mtns.

eta: thanks for the compliment.

My 08 JKU out in the wilds of Northern Nevada.  Mods are OME Frankin lift, Mopar steel bumpers and a winch, Rubicon wheels.  Most recently a 5.3L LS engine conversion with 6L80 transmission.

wow!  i read 08 and my first thought was about the 3.8 vs a 3.6, and then i see what you squeezed in there.  im sure thats a different experience.

thats a good looking m38a1 someone posted up there.  looks to be an early 50s by the front fender diagonal seam.  my 53 USMC jeep has those.   this reminds me i need to fix things on it and either sell it or drive it.

I haven't done them yet.  It may be a little frigidity on the passenger side but it should be doable.  If worst comes to worst the inner fender is removable and I'll just do it through there.

The engine came out of a 2010 Siverado with 31,750 miles on the clock.

Is there a kit out there with proper mounts and such? Or, did you have it all custom fabricated? Cooling system upgrade?

Details, Man! We want details!

There is.  MoTech in Las Vegas sells kits and does turn key conversions.  He has an EZ Install kit that needs no cutting or welding.  It has an adapter that goes into the stock Jeep frame engine mount and a GM mount goes into that.  He also has the adapter for the tranny and transfer case.

Mine was a turn key conversion.  Here is a YouTube link to my Jeep on MoTech's  channel.

My Jeep has been sitting with the front axle torn apart for the better part of ten years in my garage. My wife has never seen it run. I’ve been super lazy. I started a project got in over my head and stopped. Out of the blue The last two weeks a buddy and my self have decided it’s time to get off my ass and make her run again. I have been working on the axle and getting her RE assembled. Random pic of the engine and here is a pic of the axle. High steer finished and reassemble in progress. This axle has been completely RE built.

I’m a few states away and won’t see it in person until May. I have a few more pics in my thread I started. 1983 CJ7, 4.2, Dana 44 rear (I think) 30 front. BFg 33’s. It’s pretty rusty but for $1k it’s the start of a project.

I bought this a couple weeks ago from a family member. It runs and drives, that's about all the good you can say about it. Paid $1,000 but I'm going to guess it's going to cost me another $6000 if I'm frugal.

Nothing extreme here. '85 CJ7, 5.3, 4L60E, twin sitck Dana 300 transfer case, Currie 9" rear, ARB lockers front and rear.I live in CA so I had to make it smog legal (fun). I get about 20 mpg and can run 70 on the freeway all day with a/c on. I sat out to build a Jeep that I can DD, drive to and do the Rubicon, and drive home. I think I succeeded. Sorry for the poser shot. Don't let clean make you think it doesn't get wheeled, I just like my vehicles cleaned.

Rough Country 2.5 spacer kit. 180 bucks shipped, my wife will use it as a mall crawler, clears 35's with ease...

The lift isn't for the hardcore guys but it's perfect for what little if any "off roading" we'll do...

check out JL Wrangler Forums... it's the best for info on the JL for now...

Got these mounted today, installing the lift tomorrow...

Edited to add: I put the lift and wheels and tires on today... not a bad job at all, took about 5ish hours including a mad dash around town looking for new lug nuts since the stock ones wouldn't work... looks way better now...
