Been looking for a light duty dump truck for a while and haven't had much luck (either complete POS or too much $$$)

I found this: 1997 Ford F350, 4x4, 7.3l Powerstroke, 102k miles, looks to be pretty clean for a work truck

What do you think it's worth?

I'll say the asking price once I get a few replies (I think it's a good deal based upon what I have seen).

Probably doesn't have a turbo so its gonna be kinda slow to make power. Other then that its worth what ever you can get it for maybe 7-8k

All powerstrokes are turbocharged going all the way back to 93 or so

8-9 maybe?

I'd say 6500-7500 just because i know those motors will last well into the 200-300k range if they are properly cared for. Read up on the factory dual mass flywheel issues. Those models had issues on the manual trannys that can be fixed.

Eta- I say 6500-7500 just because i see a truck with a dump bed and that tells me it may have been worked fairly hard.

I would say about 9k in this area.

It's worth more than you'd expect because of the mileage and 7.3 which fetches a premium because of the later model POS 6.oh no's much deserved reputation for incurring massive repair costs and downtime. It's sad but the 7.3 is the last ford diesel a business can trust short of dropping $40k+ on the yet unproven 6.7

Clean low mileage 7.3 superduty trucks are SELLING for north of $15k readily right now.

If I really wanted/needed that vehicle I'd give 10-12k.  Not a lot of money for a low mile powerstroke 1 ton 4x4 with a dump box.  Not a fan of the manual tranny or red interior (personal choice).  In my area that would be a desirable piece with a bale bed on it.

seller is asking $7200 in a very poorly worded CL ad that just said "dump truck for sale this is a good working dump truck diesel 102 miles  I"m asking 7,200 obo" with no pics or any other info.

the 7.3 PSD's command a premium everywhere even more so the sub 150k ones

if it was an auto I would be driving the truck home already and yes the red interior is ugly but it will be a work truck

I bet you are thinking about a roadtrip and how much hydraulic bail spear would set you back right now.

GM also used the dual mass flywheels........they are destined to early failure.I replaced mine with a South Bend complete unit and it was a $1400 fix.

LOL!  I didn't even realize it was in CO until after I posted.  I do have new bale bed laying out there but have WAY to many projects as it is.  If it was local I'd be all over it.  Good luck to the OP.

Going tomorrow to check it out/buy it hopefully.

Looks very clean

I can only go by my area but I would say no more then 8k. The dump bed looks very nice provided everything works.

I got my 97 CCSB for 9k with 150k on it

9-10k. It is a 7.3 turbo, FO! You will not beat this truck. Might not get great mileage but with regular maintenance it wont die, EVER,

7.3 1 ton with a manual.  Yeah. You should get it.

yup, buy that.  7.3 dumps around here fetch $8500 with ease.

I've had 2 7.3's in my life. A 1990 (IDI) with a ZF-5 and a 1996 (PSD) also with a ZF-5. I honestly think the ZF-5's are the best transmissions Ford ever put in a truck…period. Now, I'll take a NV-4500 over a ZF-5 any day of the week. The ZF-5 doesn't shift right when the clutch goes out, the NV-4500 does.

However, being a Ford (and the fact I've owned or been issued 7 in 6 years) I'd only offer about $5000 for it.

You can probably get the truck for close to $6k, which is certainly not a bad price.  I wouldn't even blink at the manual shifter, and it wouldn't make a difference to me either way which trans the truck had.  I'd love to have a 1-ton dump, but need one with 4wd.  Friend of mine has a '98 GMC 3500 4-door 4WD with a dump bed, and it is extremely useful.  Only problem is, its a 454 and absolutely drinks fuel...probably gets under 10mpg.

Never heard anyone say a 7.3 dump is a panty dropper!

Picked it up yesterday for $6500. Just starting to go through it and made sure everything is the way it should be, and it never is. So far I have found a blocked rear diff vent causing it pressurize and piss oil, chassis needed a good greasing, tires were low on air, might have a leaky front axle seal, need to change tranny fluid to see if it will fix a very slight grinding issue that happens occasionally other than that it runs and drives fine.
