Was their a race to see who could fuck up a good thing going? With the release of the 15' Charger today... it appears so.

The new Challenger looks good though:

Challenger: What did they change
Charger: Holy fuck its a bigass dart (ugly) Mustang: I like it....a lot actually Camaro: same as challenger, don't really see many changes aside from tail lights...... |

Around here a 4x4 would win.. the roads are so bad they are not even putting cold patch. just plain or dirt in the holes and humps.

I'm a Mustang guy all the way but damn that Challenger is pure sex.

Aside from small tweaks, the challenger and camaro look unchanged from the last 7 years or so.

I love the challenger the best looks wise, but holy shit I test drove an SRT-8 yesterday and the sticker price was 52k. I realize this is the top trim, but a camaro SS or Mustang GT can be had for mid-30's. Maybe 40 for a loaded camaro SS. And it would be justifiable if the interior was awesome, but IT AINT! The interior in my 2012 Lariat F-150 is much nicer. Even a ZL-1 camaro which is much more powerful is only about 4k more.
I am sure they run like a bat out of hell, but for that kind of scratch I just don't want a cheap plastic/ rubber dashboard interface. |

I was hard pressed against plum crazy purple and torred red on my charger. The challenger got a slight revise. It's hardly anything to bat an eyelash over. |

What's confusing about this photo is it's an RT but the shaker says 392. If I'm reading this right it could be selected as an option... I think. I mean I hope. I mean I want. Eight trim levels are now available, with new Shaker and Scat Pack models available with the 5.7L and 6.4L V8 on the Shaker, while the Scat Pack gets the 6.4L engine exclusively |

The 2008-2014 Challenger were reminiscent of the 1970. The 2015 takes design cues from the 1971 (but IMO as a '71 owner doesn't do a good job with them). Too much safety crap just makes the front end look kind of bulbous. That said I wouldn't mind having one... not at all. And the interior does look somewhat less generic now.

Aren't the Dodges still using a 1998 Mercedes front suspension, and 2002 Mercedes rear suspension? The LX platform is getting a little geriatric.
Also, those cars are porkers. The Mustang is going to be what, 1,000 pounds lighter? |

The front still uses mostly the same except it doesnt have as much aluminum The RT's run in around 3950#'s, SRT's run around 4200#'s or so. The GT Mustang runs in around 3600#'s (although they are rumored to be pulling 300#'s from the GT in 2015) The SRT's are much quicker to 60 and in the 1/4 but get slayed in the twisties. |

Current SRT's? Pretty much every test I've seen has the regular Mustang GT running 0-60 in the 4.4-4.5 range, and the SRT Challenger in the 4.6-4.8 range. Quarter mile....virtually the same Mustang GT running 12.6-12.8 and the SRT running 12.7-13.0. The new Mustang GT pretty much set the standard for performance muscle cars.....the new SRT8 with the new motor however may finally take that up, but then again from a price standpoint, the SRT series is more of a direct competitor to the GT500 and such. |

Yeah, the current 300 392's are running 4.2's and 12.6's and they are the heaviest of the LC/LX's and with the 5 speed auto. The 15's are getting the 8 speed. The Challengers are quicker (auto only which they rarely tested for some reason) Yes, the manuals are slower than the GT's in most cases. Its because they suffer a stupid fuel/ignition cutoff when the clutch is activated slowing them down.
The R/T's didnt even show up for the game. They barely beat V6 cars. One reason is the really low 5700 rpm redline. The manual R/T's cant hit 60 in 2nd gear, they have to shift to 3rd. It takes 10hp to overcome 100 pounds of weight disadvantage. The Challenger SRT core weighs 4160, the GT track pack weighs 3622. The 300 weighs 4387. The SRT has 50 more HP which is a wash, but has 80 more torque and 3.92 gears opposed to 3.73. Next year when the 15 GT comes out, it will be the new leader, then the Hellcat will come out and be the new leader. The big 3 leap frog each other every couple of years. Isnt the HP war great! |

The 2 into one pipe goes into the intercooler here on the passenger side and exits on the drivers side and continues to the intake |

Shot of the intake tube, note dual meth nozzles. We are gonna have to relocate the MAF sensor here in the intake tube, the tuner did not like the cars response to the MAF in the intercooler. So the saga continues. Also first start up after 3 months down. You can tell the car doesnt like the MAF sensor in its current location.

MAF instead of MAP?

Amazing how when the C5 ZO6 came out and was doing this, it was basically revolutionary in terms of speed and one of the fastest sports cars of its generation. Now there are 4000+ lbs monsters basically doing the same thing. So to answer your question, yes....horsepower wars are absolutely fantastic. |

Thats what the Hellcat will compete with next year with its estimated 640-680hp and corresponding price tag. We will know more about that one next month. |
