THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
I swear to God if I see another $500k Ferrari on velocity or speed channel sporting POS $4 each FRAM oil filters I'm going to stab my TV

I wouldn't put a fucking fram on my lawnmower or a $400 f150 I can't help but wonder how many $15,000 engines have been ruined with these sub wal mart grade "filters"?

While not the most robust oil filters on the market, I don't know of any class-action law suits against Fram either.

This is a pretty good comparo/review of about 10 different filters by maker.

Been using Fram filters for years. Never had a problem. Then again, while I'm not a clueless collector, neither am I a whiny whatever. Some people read too much and do too little.

In before someone posts a link to the pre-1998 Minimopar site that cut apart some Fram oil filters designed for the Ford 302 small block V8

Not a Fram fan. Are they still not using back-flow preventers?

No

And on the cars in question they're mounted upside down!

As if its not bad enough listing to a Ford or Jeep death rattle on every dry startup caused by a fram

I ran Fram exclusively for 2 decades. We put 250,000 miles on a 2001 dodge 360 ram 1500. Never had problems.

A while back I started a thread here about filters. Because of that I switched to Purolator and Napa Gold. I've been running K&N on my Harley, but just bought Purolators for that to.

While that guy measured the meadia inside the filters, he really had no way of knowing what micron size the media stops or allows through. I don't know if his testing really means anything.

ETA: I always bought fram because it was a name I knew, from all their advertising. I think they must be the only company that spends much at all on advertising oil filters.

Fram isn't the ultimate quality filter but they work. If you change your oil according to the manufacturer's recommended schedule,
no filter will ever get clogged enough to bypass.

They're good enough for normal service.

Find evidence of engine failures traced to Fram filters AND not related to neglected oil levels and change intervals if you want me to join your side of the discussion.

Put up or shut up.

Been running them on my Maseratis for 15 years now without any problems.

I've always used Napa Gold (Wix) just because they are cheap (when bought on sale) and haven't ever heard anything good about Fram.

this is actually a pretty WEAK REVIEW I mean he even cried about royal purple. the only thing he even looked at was filter paper LENGTH never mind what micron the media filters at!!
the micron size IS what does all the filtering. so what if a filter has 56 inches of media or 225, if the 56 filters1 micron and the 225 does 25 micron then so what.

I was interested until i saw that he was only looking for LENGTH of media and not mesh or material type.

I use them on my toyota, 180,000 miles. No knocking, rattling or blowing up here. I use mobil 1, changed every 5,000 miles. The filter is mounted upside down too.
