Today a friend and I were out searching for our first bikes, and at a semi local dealership I happened upon a 2006 Kawasaki Vulcan 500 for 3k. It has 516 miles on it and was apparently bought rode for a little bit and then parked in a garage for 6 years.

I have a few questions for you guys.

First is 3k a good deal for a bike like this? Second are Vulcan's good bikes for said money? And third I'm 5'8" and about 215lbs, so would this thing be enough bike to get me out on the interstate and rockin' when I'm ready or am I going to be left wanting more before summers end?

3k is a bit high for a learner bike, especially a 500. They havent' changed much over the years, so if you're willing to go with an older one you could save a bit of coin and have more $ to upgrade later if you want to. My first bike was $2300('99 YZF600R), second $2900('05 CBR600F4i), and third $3200(Aprillia RST1000). It's a toy, not a necessity. Spend accordingly.
