Netflix just announced a 7-1 stock split. Would you buy now, before the split or wait until after the split? Explain your decision.

Technically, the split won't change the value of each share, so it doesn't matter.

If you expect the split to have a psychological effect, such that it would increase demand, I guess you'd want to buy before the split.

the time to buy was 2012, you missed it unless you want to gamble on a jump

Neither, it's way too overpriced for me.

Check your broker.  If it's the online type some will charge you a fee, like td ameritrade.   I think they charge $30. For a split, I don't remember.

I would never let a split affect my decision to buy or not to buy. Share price does not indicate value. Look at Price/earnings, price/book value, growth over the last 5-10. Compare to other similar companies.
