Okay guys, simple question. I filled married joint return in 2012. At the time I was military and a legal resident of New Mexico. My wife was a legal resident of North Carolina. New Mexico Taxed her income in North Carolina based on my legal residency.

That's not right, right?

TurboTax thinks its hunkey dorey and I' trying to amend my return but no matter what I do New Mexico wants to chunk out that North Carolina income.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Pay for a real accountant, and have them file the amendment.

I'd like to hear from some of the guys on here if its even worth it to walk into an accountants office to get this done. That's why I posted the question. Are you saying that I was right in assuming my wife wouldn't owe taxes for the 2012 year in New Mexico?
