What are the best places to buy smaller quantities of physical silver?

Smaller quantities as in hundreds per purchase...not thousands,

JM Bullion.  Have ordered from them a couple of times and had no problems.  Prices are a little cheaper than APMEX.  $100 minimum order, but free shipping.

+1 for apmex.

Gainsville sent me coins with milk spots and when I contacted them they said too bad.

Apmex once sent me silver eagles instead of canadian maple and when i told them about it they pulled the video and sent me a return envelope and took care of it. Ever since I only buy from Apmex.

They don't sell anything.  The compare the vendors (quality of service) and the prices.  Apmex is not the cheapest.

I recently bought some silver bullion, from a recommendation of a co-worker. bought four 1oz Walking liberty and five 10z Mexican "Libertad" (Liberty) bullion coins. getting some more the next time I get paid. Trying to stock as much of it so I can then trade up to gold.

Consider the potential for price increase is greater with silver than gold.  The ratio set by Congress is 16:1.  Right now it's about 62:1.  That means silver is undervalued by 75% and it should be $80 an ounce.

So I guess I should buy some more silver then. I will be honest, I am late to the game, but I do want to get more silver and gold down the road. Right now, all I have is the Walking Liberty and Mexican Libertad coins; anything else I should be looking for?

'Generic' rounds, 1 oz., made by a known mfg. such as Apmex.
An ounce of silver, is an ounce of silver.
Why pay an $2.50, Or More, premium for an American Silver Eagle?

Only problem with silver is that it is so heavy for the dollar value.  $10,000 worth of silver is very heavy, as compared to what $10,000 in gold weighs.

current mintage of eagles or whatever the Canadian mint makes.  I avoid older mintages because the Chinese forge everything.

BTW, if you must buy pre-64 90% coins, test them (ring test).  Buy lots of dimes.  Small denominations for  small purchases.

Very good point.  You can leave the country with some gold coins and not raise an eyebrow (coin purse with other coins).  Try doing that with a bag of 500 silver dollars.  Also, gold is easier to hide than silver.  It's a tradeoff.  Finding the right balance will be different for everyone.

Gainesville Coins offers 5 silver eagles for spot plus .99 cents.  Postage is $11.95 (express mail) so you get 5 coins for $127.45.  Yeah it's small potatoes, but it's affordable and every piece of silver counts.

I have no connection financial or otherwise with Gainesville Coins.

Small quantities I have always had the best luck with the local coin stores. Usually they have slightly higher prices but on small quantities it often evens out vs shipping costs.

Another plus is it is nice to be able to go buy it and get it in your hand right then.

I am just now getting started in investing in silver.  With that being said it seems to me that if you are quick you can find some decent deals on the equipment exchange.  Again I am very very new to it, so take it FWIW.

I buy Gold and Silver regularly but I will not buy it from a commercial metals dealers per se.

I buy from estates, private individuals, and auctions.

I can buy for less that market prices at the moment, making the buy all that much better.

Of course it comes in all forms of jewelry, and other items but silver is silver and gold is gold.

I once bought a collection of "coins" each coins was 1oz of .999 Fine Silver.

There were 100 coins in the lot, cost me $450. Silver at the time was a little more than $5/ounce.

Was bidding against metals dealers, but since I was buying for me and not for resale I was willing to go slightly higher than they were.

They are charging you  $23.49 for one ounce of silver.

Current silver price is ~$21.09

How is 10% above spot a " good deal "

Forget about what the coin is ..... what is the silver worth?

That's how I buy !!!!!!

American Silver Eagles always buy and sell for a little more than spot price.  They're worth more than just their silver content.

I use Provident Metals.  Never a problem and they ship fast.  Many interesting designs on their silver rounds.  The "Don't Tread on Me" and "Molon Labe" coins with the crossed AR15s are works of art.
