THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT What team owners will lose their heads and cause their managers (and maybe some coaches) to lose theirs? Place your bets: The headsmen are sharpening their axes.

I would love to see Bobby V get the ax, but it's not going to happen unfortunately.
Unless he does something really insane he will keep his job for the next year or two. Most likely two years. Bud Black (Padres) and Dusty Baker (Reds) are my favorites for first to get canned. I would love to see John Farrell get the ax in Toronto and replace the big nose glasses wearing loudmouth. |

The way the Bosox have been playing lately - and going into last year - makes me wonder if they need a new theme song/music:

Come on, Ozzie Guillen's a lock! He's already well on his way by talking about how he loves Uncle Fidel in a majority Cuban market.

Met's Manager Terry Collins is a strong contender. He started out very well. I heard comments during the All Star Game that he was a serious contender for Manager of the Year. But with the Met's Annual Collapse starting in July and not September.....

Ya, I'm starting to think that we'll make a whole season without any axes dropping! I don't know if I remember that ever happening, but then again I mostly keep up with the Yankees. |

Well, it happened lastnight, Houston fired their manager! Mills is out. We should have known. I thought they were going to wait too the end of the year to clean house and get ready for the AL.

I'm not surprised Houston's manager is out.
They've been a trainwreck for the past 2 seasons. |

Manny Acta got the ax this week. Not surprised from the effort his team was putting out. Worst record in baseball since the all-star break.

"That month just crushed our hopes," Acta said. And cost him his second job as a major league manager. Acta was fired Thursday by the Cleveland Indians, who collapsed from contention with a 5-24 record in August, the worst month in the franchise's 112-year history. Acta, hired in 2009 after two tough seasons in Washington, paid the steepest price for the Indians' stunning slide that dropped them to last place in the AL Central. It certainly wasn't all Acta's fault, but he took the fall. During the club's August meltdown, Acta tried everything he could to turn things around. He changed his starting lineup, called team meetings, altered routines - all to no avail. Once the Indians began to slip in the standings, there was nothing the 43-year-old Acta could do to stop them.

I don't think they'll make it but I don't think that Mattingly is going to be filing for unemployment either. |

Bobby Valentine fired by Red Sox
Bobby Valentine, who presided over one of the worst seasons in Red Sox history, was fired Thursday.
The Red Sox moved swiftly after ending their season Wednesday night, telling Valentine that he would not return for the second year of his contract to manage the team.
