I read that the Pujols contract is backend heavy in that he actually will take a pay cut this year, but in his last year he will be making $30million. 30 million for a 42 year old DH, whos numbers started declining 11 years before that. Good call Angels.
Better them than StL though. ![]() |

Can't wait for 2012.
![]() Rox had to overpay to get a free agent hitter past his prime to come play at Coors Field (all while Carlos Beltran was still on the market)Rox don't know who their 1, 2, or 3rd starter is going to be. And you can forget about them ever signing a decent name of a free agent pitcher (see Hampton, Mike) Rox don't have a legitimate starting second basemen Tulo can't hit in the clutch CarGo can't stop himself from running into walls Helton is old balls Our only hope is a heavy footed youngster by the name of Nolan Arenado. Hopefully he will become the 3rd basemen the Rox need him to be. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I really excited for the Cardinals in 2012. Lots of pain in the off season from LaRussa and Pujols but I'm still optimistic. Hopefully Beltran and Furcal can play 130-140 games and Wainwright is returning! 12 in 12!

Its kinda scary going from the greatest manager of the era to one thats never done it before though. I credit the sucess of the Cardinals over the past 10 years to LaRussa more than anyone. |

Mozeliak has turned out to be a pretty awesome GM and I hope his judge of character and leadership in Matheny turns into wins for the Cards. |

The mid season trade of Rasmus was the best thing hes done. I loved watching Dotel take care of Braun in the NLCS. ![]() |

Did you see some of his stats from the Japanese league? If he can hold similar numbers in MLB it will turn out to be quite a bargain for the Rangers. Wonder if they will make a move on Fielder or not now. I hope he leaves the NL Central. ![]() |

I agree about the Japanese pitcher statement, but this guy isn't like any Nippon league guy I've seen before. He's only half Japanese by the way, 6'6" and some nasty stuff to go with a good fastball. We'll see how he works out, but damn!

If possible, I would like to witness another three peat in my life time. If it's cost cutting, well, maybe next life then. I agree, I hate to see the same team go years in a row and lose when they are there or go a bunch of times and lose a bunch ( 90's Braves 1-4 in 9 years). Now these Rangers have failed twice, I feel bad for them because the door for them to win it is getting smaller and smaller, although their owners are trying to keep them competitive. I just wonder how long they can keep this up in their market. I'm surprised that the LA market hasn't produced a contender more often, but maybe that's about to change? I was in Seattle last september to see the yankees play and their were way more yanks fans then M's fans, I would have been embarrassed if I lived in Seattle, but it's that way in Phoenix when I go see them there too. My point being, It seems like these "smaller" markets won't support a team that's not winning or they have to have a deep history of baseball to get that support. When I went to Boston to see the yanks, we were outnumbered 100 to 1! |

Theres no baseball city like St.Louis. Its the best. Real Cardinal fans could name off the championship years, the retired numbers, etc etc by heart. And the city and region is full of those fans. We are 30,000 fans strong in Busch on a Tuesday night vs the Pirates.
I love being a fan of a Team that has been in the National League since 1892 in the same city, I love Ducky Medwick, Stan the Man, Bob Gibson, Ozzie Smith, and Jack Buck. We are Cardinal Nation |

Suddenly the Rockies lineup looking formidable:
CF- Dexter Fowler (huge 2nd half- can he build on that?)
2B- Marco Scutaro
LF- Carlos Gonzalez (needs to stay healthy- no more crashing into walls)
SS- Tulo
RF- Michael Cuddyer (wish we would have made a stronger play for Beltran)
1B- Todd Helton
3B- Casey Blake if Nolan Arenado isn't ready (kids gonna rake when he gets there)
C- Ramon Hernandez
P
Rox have 11 arms competing for rotation spots going into spring training. Unfortunately there's going to have to be two or three that really step up in order for rox to be a factor. De La Rosa won't be back until April/May.

Since the Rockies traded Seth Smith, they now only have 2 players from the 07 world series team left on the roster: Troy Tulowitzki and Todd Helton.
Kinda sad. |

Players these days dont stick around long enough to develop identities in cities. I thought it was sad that Pujols, Molina, Carpenter and sort of Wainwright were the only people that won in '11 that also had '06 Rings. |
