Hopefully that is legit and they have solid motherboards for it right off the bat. My i5 2500 needs replacing.

I'm not sure which direction I will end up going. I would prefer to wait a couple of months to see how they affect the market (pricing, etc.), but I'm in desperate need for a new system.

The 7-1700 might have potential as a low-ish cost VM host processor. Low power, high core/thread count, and not stupidly expensive.

Looks like more information on motherboards are coming out.

Can't wait myself.
Looking at getting a X1700 with a new Polaris coming out too. Bye bye intel and Nvidia. But yeah, AMD always has mad hype and, I hope they deliver. |

Launch day today.
I7 6900k equivalent for $500 I7 7700k equivalent for $329 But, most importantly, RGB lighting on the stock coolers! Last call to board the hype train. |

I still haven't seen the most critical detail. Will it play Netflix 4K streams?
I also like how AMD is trolling Intel with the chipset name. |

Nice. I'm going to buy a RyZen R7 for sure. Need to figure out which one though.
Already got a buyer lined up for my 6700K and he doesn't need more than a quad core, so it worked out nicely timing wise. |

Microcenter has them up for preorder. In addition to their $30 motherboard bundle discounts, they are offering $20 bundle discounts with certain GPUs. Good time to build a PC.

1700X preordered from Newegg.
Now I need to pick a motherboard. I was originally get an X370 but I think the B350 will be enough. They're almost half the price and I won't be losing much. I'm not doing SLI again. |

I'm relatively new to building my own pc's, but I'm pretty knowledgeable with computers.
I just don't get all the love for AMD. They may be cheaper, but they are always late to the game, and an inferior product. Intel and nvidia is whippin that ass. That's why they are basically charging whatever they want. |

View Quote Thats because many of us remember when AMD was spanking Intel in the desktop in both performance and cheaper stuff. I bought a new Athlon 64 3000+ about 14 years ago and nothing Intel had for the desktop could touch it, pentium 4 was a joke. Damn I think I payed $400.00 for it. Then Intel struggled for two or three years and AMD just dicked around and the next thing you know Intel surpassed them. Then AMD came out with the FX cpu's and they were a disappointment..... But really for the price the FX's were pretty decent just not top tier. |

One I saw the 1700 is still like 4-9% faster than the top intel chip at an even lower price point than the 1800x or 1700x.
But until they are in the wild and the mobo gets some kinks get sorted I will be holding off possibly until the R5 |

The motherboards are what i'm waiting on, going to wait a couple of months for the reviews to come in to be able to pick a good one from the crappy rated ones. Since alot of the motherboards will allow overclocking and only the top priced ones will let you do SLI or Crossfire and I have no plans to do either I will probably get a decent B350 one. EDIT: DAMN I just was checking out the prices, I WILL get a Z370 board. |

LOL @intel.
They slashed their prices boy 40-50 bucks... So for 299 you can get a sub performing cpu that drops frames worse than a dog dropping ticks that you still have to add a monster cooling option to push to get to 5ghz. So it can only drop 18% of the frames. Or you can spend the 30 bucks for a basic air cooler to keep stock speeds and takes a beating worse than the day time hooker holding back her pimp's money. The R7 1700 the low ender at 329 at release is not that low end and can be over clocked also just trounces the absolute hell out of the 7700k without the over clocking to the extreme. And the lower end of the triple release that closes in on the over priced x99 chipset also and in more than a couple tests dead even and above it. It punches well above it's weight class and does so at a 65 watt stand point. It just clears all of Intel's line up the hell off the board at a mid range price point. It is like if High Point dropped a 1911 that had the fit and finish of a Nighthawk custom at RIA prices. Let alone bringing the x99 performance within range of the non epeen stroking basement dwelling chronic masterbating trust fund geek. No matter how it plays out AMD kicked Intel right in the crotch and made them lick the white dog shit. |

Its AMD. All hype, wont deliver (QC issues and glorified hot plates incoming). Everyone that bought one will be defending it for the next couple months after release. Buy once, cry once get a higher end Intel just be happy with something stable, efficient. IMHO, so if this offends you buy a PVC pipe and pack some sand in it.

The past couple of generations have been crap but this new one is looking pretty damn good. |
