I bought a iPhone 5 16gb. It's running iOS 8.0.2. It's wanting to update to 9.3.2. Should I? Can the hardware support it. On my iPhone 4 it's lagging after I updated to the last supported iOS.

I believe it will support it. Install it with a restore so its a nice fresh install. Look at a DFU restore.

I've heard mixed reports about it.  Supposedly the latest version or so of 9 is subjectively better than earlier versions on older hardware.

Read up on it and decide if it's worth the risk.  FWIW, the kids' iPad Minis are still on 8 and will stay on 8.
