I use Witopia here in Kuwait and when I was in Abu Dhabi

40 bucks for a 6month sub and they stay updated when countries increase their restrictions

You could always run OpenVPN on a VPS (e.g. DigitalOcean or Linode).

I run openVPN on a Raspberry Pi, I couldn't decide on anything else to do with it besides AirPlay/AirPrint.

I run the server myself. You can run one in a docker container on a Digital Ocean droplet for $5/mo.

I use Private Internet Access, $40/year, no logging, 6 or 8 gateways in the US, dozens more worldwide.

I have no pecuniary interest in this service, I just find them reliable and a decent price.
