FoxFi from the play store, makes your phone a wifi hotspot then you tether to it.
Been using it for years now...no problem. |

It will also help to have the model of your smartphone. S5 isn't specific enough.

I've used both FoxFi and WiFi Tether for years. No complaints.

I am using a Galaxy S3 every single day to upload from the field using a Galaxy 10.1 tablet. I just turn on the tethering in the settings and it works perfectly. I'm not running an app for it.
