Not unless your router is a steaming pile of shit. Honestly, I have no idea how it would make even the slightest difference.

About only thing you can do to minimize latency is use ethernet cable instead of wifi

Likely the additional configuration on the router as a whole will cause it to slow a very little bit. The more rules the router has to look at to pass the traffic the longer it will take.  What is the difference if you directly connect a device to the modem vs behind the router in speed and latency?  If their is a big difference it might be time for a upgrade.
