And please, no smart remarks,or saying you should have bought such and such. I went on the recomendation of a ARFcommer that works in IT. I trust his judgment.
I got an Asus K550L I think its called. It was on Woot for just under $500.
What would you setup on a clean installed.
I need/want virus, spam, adware, etc protection.
Im putting AVG on it right now.

Thanks for any help.
Its Windows 8 if it matters. Which I have to learn how to use!!

I scan with MalwareBytes, and ClamWin.

Nothing that runs all the time.

In Firefox (or Waterfox) I use Ghostery, Adblock Plus and Flashblock.

The rest of the Antivirus is me.

You might like Start Menu 8.

I prefer Avast over AVG, but AVG has been pretty good.

I usually install Malware Bytes Anti Malware too.

Did it come with Office?

You install a new browser with adblocking? Or add AdBlock Plus to your current one.

eset for the antivirus.  Very low profile compared to most of the others.
