Well apparently they are because when I try to call a specific number it wants me to add money yet other numbers are free. The odd thing is it doesn't seem to affect a whole area code or exchange but a range of 20 numbers within the 4 digits after the exchange. If I enter 555-555-5530 into Hangouts it's a free call but 555-555-5550 to 5569 it's 1 cents per minute.

Has anyone else ran into this or know why this is happening?

Not seeing what makes these number specials vs. other numbers within the same area code and exchange.

I experienced these charges recently while in Afghanistan.

For some reason, out on the FOBs the calls were free, but on the occasions where i had to fly to Bagram they charged a modest amount per minute.

I never looked into it enough to determine why there was a difference.
