My solution later today will be to get a non-Nvidia card ............... but since I still have it now ...

Nvidia Geforce 210
Vista 32bit
Dell from 2009, built in VGA only video board
HDMI only Dell 24 IPS monitor

No Nvidia drivers = somewhat functioning monitor

Nvidia drivers = BSOD/restart upon startup

PowerStrip program to force resolutions won't let me, the Administrator, run a custom resolution unless I right click program and Run as Admin .......... which I did.

It's unfortunate that one cannot ACTUALLY fix a computer with hammers.

Thoughts?

I picked up an R5 220 Radeon.

Installed card, same no-adapter results.

Grew old waiting for driver to install.

Now AMD catalyst control center says no settings can be configured.

Uninstalled (with prejudice) the disc supplied AMD software and found a driver from 2013.

Now this R5 220 is running on Vista 32, labeled as a 5450 in the Device Manager.

Don't care.  Now I finally have 1920x1200 option

You could try sticking it in the oven. I fixed 2 that way. It melts the solder and can fix bad joints, there are tons of guides on youtube and google.
