[ARCHIVED THREAD] - My Dad forgot his windows password, what software to use?

My dad changed his password and promptly forgot it. I attempted to start the computer in safe mode with command prompt and use the netuser function to reset it, but no dice, it wont start.

Cant get into the default admin account either. I think the only option left is the password recovery software. Who makes good stuff, theres only about 20 million types out there. Any good ones that are free?

Yeah.

Trinity good to go. Plus free.

For a home, personal computer, just write the damn thing down. It's not like you are going to stop someone with physical control over the PC from getting in.

Now many PCs come with the Windows CD now? Of those that do, how many people know where it is and didn't lose it?

The windows disk itself is a "tool", and not necessarily an easy one to get.

I do like the idea of getting rid of the sticky keys command file though. Doing that out of hand would be useful in a lot of situations, I might just do that for all my installs.
