The magpul is definitely a good choice. When I got my s5 it wasn't out yet and I ended up with a Spigen case from Amazon. It works and looks great too and has already saved my phone from a drop onto a concrete driveway

I just got an S5 and bought this Urban Armor case. Good protection and light weight and not bulky at all. I bought it from one of the links for Used Like New for 15 shipped.

Otterbox Commuter. I've used them for my last three phones. Other than crushing my old Razr Maxx in the tailgate of my Xterra they work great.
And see if your home owners insurance has an electronics rider for things like laptop/ desktop computers. They might also cover smart phone. Costs me 19 bucks a year. When I crushed my Maxx I had a check for 595 dollars in three days. Pic of crushed phone:
