I have a Garmin eTrex from about 15 years ago. The screen has become sun-damaged; there are row where nothing appears.

does anyone have any suggestions how to fix this?

I don't think sun damage can be repaired. Probably cheaper to by a newer unit.
Garmin offers repair service rate for some older units.
