Other options are WPA Shared and WEP-??? I have read that Macs sometimes have issues with WPA. Should I switch to WEP? Any reason not to? Guys, try to keep the discussion dumbed down to a very basic level. I'm not at all fluent in this stuff. Computers are a scary majic box to me.

The question has more to do with wifi connectivity than security. Macs can have connectivity problems with WEP. Especially Macbook pro running Lion. So the question is. Would the enhanced reliability of switching to WPA overule any negatives of switching from WEP?

Macs work just fine with WEP and WPA2, WEP is, as already noted, insecure to the point of being pointless to use at all. There are no reliability issues with using WPA, especially not using a MBP running Lion.
