Wonderful thread. Even if you don't plan to shoot weapons, there are great pointers and pro-tips in here that translate well to common use even if all you have is a cellphone camera, which surprisingly as of late, are nearly as, if not as good as entry and mid-level consumer level point and shoots. I question how much longer the category will exist?

Lighting, composition, focus and position are your greatest weapons. These were taken with my old  IPhone 3GS:

I always have trouble finding good backgrounds. This was hanging over a stained bamboo cutting board but I need some grey cloth or something to really eliminate any distraction.

These are a few from my new lightbox set up with my D3200. I am still learning the camera, but wanted to start out with a proper lighting setup. I think these turned out okay and have not done anything to them aside from uploading.

First time playing around with the settings on my camera, just threw my 1911 on the tailgate of my truck and snapped these.

Might as well post these in here. Not guns, but ammo.

Pics are from an upcoming website on ammo that I am doing. Took me a while to get everything close to acceptable (ultimately with some unorthodox methods).

I was told to lay off the HDR, so here's something more organic.

Here's some outdoor stuff, still a point and shoot, but it lets you select manual settings except the focus. Very light color/contrast/level tweaks in Photoshop.
