I lost all of my guns in a boating accident, but here's something else...

I could have done this photo a lot better with a wider lens and either a boom or a buddy to hold the light overhead a bit more, but honestly this came out ok for a single light through an umbrella:

I have kind of a makeshift lightbox made out of a $0.99 piece of glossy posterboard from walmart, and I use a Streamlight PT-1L as a light source.

Interesting perspective.  May I suggest, do a sharper manual focus on the muzzle, if possible.

Cool pics.

I like these a lot, I am a big fan of phtography and do it as a profession. I like the idea of the shot up target I have one, but never thought much of it. I take more pictures of people and less of still objects. Good job.

Don't underestimate that point-n-shoot camera. Some of my photos shot with a Kodak point-n-shoot camera are some of the best shots and rival some DSLR photos.

Excellent examples Mark. I agree with it all.

Thanks for reinforcing the fact that it's not all about the gear used.

Having something to shoot with, and knowing how to use it in a reasonable manner goes along way.

went with this, just can't remember if I used an actual macro lens, or just made what I had on hand work.

A friend gave me the idea of shooting against ammo cans.
He's done some great work also.

Nikon D5000, taken outdoors.  Used aperture priority to force a very narrow depth of field to draw attention to the selector.

Same D5000, inside, under CFL's:

I redid one of them.  Thankfully I always copy the original and work on the 2nd.

My most important tip is to always use a tripod. Not having to worry about long exposure times allows you to worry about lighting less.
As a relative beginner I try to work with natural or room light as much as I can.
I happened to take this shot last night (critiques welcome). Light was just the floor standing lamp in the room.

Just added some new pictures of my GLOCK 35.  New background with the walnut table came out very good I thought.  Good contrast for the gun.
