In our spare bedroom there is an old Ansco Viking Readyset camera on the chest.  It's been there for years (27 maybe) and it was dusty so I sat down to clean it up a bit.

It still has film in it!  I asked my wife where she got it, and it turns out it was her Grandmothers.

She has no idea how old the film is, and it has probably deteriorated over time, but I wonder.  How cool would it be to find images her Grandmother took many many years ago.  Long shot, yes I know.

I did a bit of research and found that it shoots 2 1/4 X 3 1/4 120.  I think there may be one or two more exposures left.

Does anyone know of a company that would give developing it a shot?  Like I said a long shot, but it would be worth a try to us.

Any info would be appreciated.

I use http://www.northcoastphoto.com/film_developing_scans.html for current film. Not sure how they might be for old film.  You can call them and ask.

According to the person in this story http://www.oregonlive.com/trending/2017/06/quest_to_develop_abandoned_fil.html
the shop Blue Moon Camera and Machine http://www.bluemooncamera.com in Portland OR can develop old film.

Lots of places still develop film.  Just Google "film developing in (your city)" and see what pops up.

I probably wouldn't  take it to a corner drug store, but around here (Dallas area), and many other cities, there are still professional photographic businesses that handle film.

I did a Google search and the first thing that popped up was Walgreen's.

I thought maybe there may be more specialized companies that can deal with really old film.

Like I said, the camera has been with us for 27 years and Granny passed long before I met my wife.

It's probably a waste of time and money, but you never know.

No.  Film can last a long time.  Worth the effort to get it developed.  But yeah, I would look for a more specialized film shop.  Some place like BWC in Dallas could certainly handle it.

Aside from potential development accidents, I have been told (in the past by a photo teacher) that you might expect the contrast to go up as the exposed but undeveloped film ages.
Photo chemistry isn't that hard, and the chemicals were once commonly available.
Ask around - someone likely processes 120 for commercial photographers.

The Darkroom is pretty good also.
The Darkroom

I use them a lot for my film shoots.
