Probably my most used lens.  Your peak sharpness through it will be f/9-10 btw.  Not sure why, but it is usually cheaper to find the lens and look for refurbs in the options, than searching for refurb in the title.  Probably folks thinking they can squeeze a few extra bucks out.

$20 cheaper at this Amazon link though.  Just go to the used section, and Amazon lists one as refurbished shipped/sold by Prime.
Amazon Product
  • 70-300mm telephoto zoom lens with f/4.5-5.6 maximum aperture for Nikon digital SLR cameras
  • Internal Focus (IF) system provides fast and quiet autofocusing; 4.9-feet Minimum focus range, Focal Length Range : 70 -300 mm
  • Vibration Reduction (VRII) minimizes effects of camera shake to produce sharper images

Great power range, and with the IS to get a little extra light, you can run really high shutter speeds without major issue even in 'eh' lighting.  If you don't have a lens that gets too close up, it can work as a 'sorta' macro at max zoom, minimal focal distance even.

I am going through trying to update my gallery with better photo edits since I've picked up a lot of my photos were taken before I really got it down.

Thanks for the heads up on the refurb option. Just swapped it out with the other one...

How far away from the moose were you when you shot that pic?

Thanks.

I'd guess 95' or so.  They were just across the yard.  In contrast, here's a cropped image of the Space Needle from ~1.9 miles with the same lens.

Fine lens.  Satisfies my telephoto itch when the Tamron is too unweildy.

Great lens for the price. It is not a low-light lens being f/5.6 but in reasonable light it is nice.
This is the lens I grab when I don't want the workout with the 70-200mm f/2.8.
