Ordered a d750 with the 24-120, battery grip, extra battery's and some memory cards. It's going to mainly be the wife's camera and she is now second shooting weddings for me. It will also be my mostly dedicated photos booth cam as well as video camera.

It's a great camera.  I fail to see how this is going full retard.  Besides, a second photog for weddings is clutch.

What's your current primary rig?

It was full retard because I didn't really need the camera yet, just a want. I usually try to keep 'want' out of business decisions. We normally rent for weddings that I need her as a second as it's only a few a year.

My current primary is a D4. I carry a 24-70, 70-200, and a 50 1.4, along with a few speed lights.

plz return the Nikkor 24-120mm f/4. It's not a very good lens even after 2 version update.

For the same price you can get the much superior Sigma 24-105mm f/4 or the Tamron 24-70mm f2.8.

I know, right?

I cant wait to be at some high dollar Asian wedding with it and have the guest mock me because they have a more pro camera than the photographer.

I've not had any issues with the ones I've rented. Are we talking actually better by margins measurable to the human eye, or some dxo mark number or the likes?

Now you must duplicate your entire system, but with Canon gear this time.

Canon is backwards... why would I do that?

I've been shooting Nikon f mount since I started shooting in 1999. Every time I pick up a Canon i want to smash it after 30 min...

Besides making the mistake of not buying Canon, I hope you did the next thing right.

Did you use a credit card with purchase protection that has price matching? I watched B&H and snagged my last Canon with a rebate. I still got a $350 price match from my card. There was NO WAY the price was that low.

This thing is tiny next to the d4! Seriously feels like a toy compared to it.

I think I found a new walk around set up!

Takes good pictures though.

The auto focus can follow a bubble.

This was right after the bubble popped it was still focused on where it was.

I'll have to take it out for a more rigorous test, but so far so good.

LOL really?

Several members on here have this lens, and are quite happy with it. Myself included. It is my only zoom, and while not quite the equal of my primes, it's more than sufficient.

Edit:

Here's a shot with my D500.

https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/56693/-DSC2067-Edit-171297.jpg

That's at ISO 10,000

I have a hard time finding fault with anything that's going on here.

Canon is the now the SotA in cameras, Nikon has fallen behind, and the Sonys, Fujifilms etc are treading hard on Nikon.

I've been a Canon guy since my first one, and AE-1 back in '79 but I've never thought of Nikon as anything less than equal to Canon.
They go back and forth as time goes by and either is a fine system.
Now when being told that Tamron or Sigma being far better than a factory Nikon lens?

WTF?

I guess anything is possible but wow...

Tamron and Sigma have stepped up their game.
The old blanket statement of "any OEM is better than any 3rd party" is no longer true and has not been true for a few years.
It now comes down to which two lenses you are comparing. Sometimes the OEM is better, sometimes 3rd party is better.
