This little fella crashed and burned on the patio Sunday. Usually they fly around buzzing the neighborhood.
When they do hit the ground, sometimes they land upside down and spin like crazy on their back. I'll push them over and give them a chance to get out of Dodge. But this time, we had left for the day, and it probably exhausted himself trying to get back upright. It never got a chance to tuck it's wings before dying. The first photo is focus stacked with 180 images, the second is a 67 image stack. Taken with a Nikon D300 using an El Nikkor 80mm enlarging lens reverse mounted on bellows. I have seen something similar to that in the Philippines a few trips ago. Not sure if they're related.
Regarding your posts, you're using focus stacking so we can be friends. That said, they both look a bit soft to me overall. Not sure if that's a hosting issue or what. I wouldn't expect stacked shots, especially with that many going into it, to appear so soft. Either way, nice shooting. |
