I was debating between the Sigma and Tamron since I've seen some excellent photos from the Tamron. I think I'll eventually go for the Sigma because of the better focus features and that it can be programmed for your body. Hey so how did the lens ever turn out? I'm 'crazily' debating selling my Nikon gear and moving to the Canon 7D II for birding.

You chose well. It's not a stretch to say it has better image quality for the money than anything that's been made up to this point.
