So I've been flying kites recently.  All the storm winds have made near-perfect conditions.

Here she is at altitude;  had about 500 feet of line out.

I was fiddling around today with my 70-200 and 2x, testing the VR and seeing what shots looked like wide open (I've been restricting myself to f/8 to kinda mitigate quality loss) and I ended up with this. The picture was focused properly, but a long-ish effective focal length and 1/250 shutter speed and wide open (f/5.6) made for an interesting...quality to the image.

I'm lucky enough to be staying at this place again and last night was struck by the roller coasters backlit  and silhouetted at sunset.  Left the damn camera in the room.

So tonight I made sure I was there at sunset.  The bonus (for me!) was that directly behind me is Cabelas, one of my favorite stores.  Last night I bought my limit of .22lr

D7100, 105 mm, 1/500, f/5.6.  ISO200.  Some cropping, warmed up the temp, pushed the hell out of saturation, dropped brightness and boosted contrast.

18mm, 1/320, f/3.5, ISO200.  More cropping and pretty much the same processing.

Gorgeous.  Every time I see a bunch of level clouds like that during the day I'm like "oooh it's on!" and then sunset hits and they disappear lol.

Great shot!  I bet it was hell trying to get the colors accurate.

Here's one I took on top of our local ski resort in the Smokies.  Quick and dirty panorama.  Probably should work on it a bit more.

I always interpreted it as motivation to get out and shoot something every day.

Whether that was the original intent or not I can't say but I post only pictures taken the day I post em. Or rarely the day before.

Gorgeous.

Here's a light-painted interior I shot and finally edited today.  It's a basic auditorium that's probably 30yrs old, but had some new woodwork done up front.  Consisted of 12 lights shot in about 3 different setups.  (7 1kw lights, 3 650kw)  Most of the lights were static but I wanted to paint the chairs which took some trial and error.  I've done a few auditoriums lately, much fancier than this, but I loved the chairs so much this is probably my favorite.

Nice shot Fredman!!!

and @ Durka...those chairs could have been so boring and repetitious...not so much now...wow...

I put one of my Fall shots in the #5 challenge...I'll keep chugging along and appreciate everyone's input...
The one below is from the same shoot...played around a bit in Lightzone...hue and saturation again...

Holy crap that's gorgeous.  I love the colors.  Please tell me you plan on printing this and hanging it somewhere?

Here's mine for today.  Took the wife hang gliding.  Just a simple shot before I go to bed.  With a 40min flight, 3 GoPros running, my 5dII running video/stills, and my drone, I probably got 60gigs of footage lol.

Ran up on this big 'ol loblolly way back on the nasty briar flat.  Great pine site, though, even if my legs do look like scratchin' posts.

28" DBH, 109 feet tall.  Has about 1,200 board feet or about 5.5 tons of wood.  Tree is worth about $150 on the stump.  Cruising an 82 acre stand of pretty much nothing but this timber (though most of it is in 13-16" DBH classes and about 85 feet tall).

Do you mean the exposure? The Nikon D810 has an extremely forgiving latitude that makes balancing the highs and lows in post super simple. I'm absolutely in love with this camera. I tend to shoot underexposed so as not to have the detail blow out in the highs, and in the case of the D810, underexposed areas still seem to retain an incredible amount of not only detail, but color as well. My last camera body was a D300, so it's literally night and day between the two.

If you meant something else, however, it totally flew over my head.

Edit: Oh wait... I think I got it. I are former knuckledragging paratrooper pretending to be a guy in a smart career field now. Doubt I'm fooling many though.
