Since I downloaded the free version of Perfect Effects 9, I can't stop playing with tilt-shift. That plug-in has an impressive amount of cool features, but I'm stuck on this one for now. I'd played with it some in PS before, but using the simplified version on PE9 made it a lot more fun. I started going back through my old photos that didn't make the "worth editing" cut at the time and came up with some images I thought were pretty cool. Anyone else a fan of tilt-shift style photos? It seems to be pretty popular and gaining steam in the portrait world, so I imagine it will be vastly overused like HDR was. Still.. I think its pretty neat for the time being.

It is an interesting effect as long as you know that it can't actually do what a tilt-shift lens can do. Just like anything else, moderation is good.

I would rather call the filter/adjustment a miniaturization effect.

Pretty neat. Those shots of the city/town look like miniatures.

One of the happy coincidences of using a tilt-shift lens is the ability to do this naturally. But as mentioned, in using software instead of an actual tilt-shift lens, all you are doing is the very selective focus aspect of it.

Usually the purpose of having a tilt shift is to get everything IN focus.

It is fun when I turn the tilt knob the wrong way sometimes.

It is a fun filter to play with. I spend way too much on guns to buy a real tilt-shift lens.

I save a ton of money on ammo being overseas.

Not guns though, I end up buying a new one every time I come home to visit.
