Too cool! We took a cruise to Alaska and was really looking forward to seeing such a display but it seems that someone turned out the lights for our trip.

Nice shots!
My sister and her family live just outside Fairbanks. During my last visit I got a few shots of the Northern Lights, but nothing as good as your shots. |

Quote HistoryWell that makes it even more amazing! Are they that bright? That night was incredible. I've never seen northern lights with such intensity before. Plus there was a full moon which washes out some of the n. lights brightness but made for good illumination for the photos. |

When shooting the northern lights you can and should keep the ISO as long as possible. Tripod is mandatory then shoot with the 10-15 second shutter speed on a good night or closer to 20 if they are dim. You want to keep the aperture at about 1/2 through the range for your lens. I will post some of mine when I get home.
