Seems like a decent landscape lens for cheap. I'm curious how a 24mm lens with that aperture is going to give "soft backgrounds."

If this lens is as sharp as the 40, I want one. The 40 is the sharpest lens I own. I think an SL1 with a 24, 40, and 55-250 would make a great travel package.

I happen to like the 64mm equivalent on the crop sensor of the 40mm. Can't wait for the 38mm equivalent of the 24mm.

I just ordered the 40mm. With a $50 rebate I couldn't resist. $150 for a lens that realistically should have a red stripe, it's pretty awesome.

Just took this at 1/30 sec at f2.8 - iso800. This was hand held. of course the full size original is better than a photobucket compressed image.  not too shabby.  |
