I got into wildlife photography a couple years ago and mostly capture images of bald eagles along the Potomac River. I never thought photography would be something that would interest me...but I have the bug prettyy bad now. I guess I saved a lot of money by taking an interest later in life.

I imagine the learning process never stops; open to any criticism or comments.

Very cool.  Thanks for sharing those.

What was your distance from the eagles when photos were taken?

If you like Eagles and especially Eagles in flight, you need to head up to Conowingo, Maryland.

Below the Conowingo Damn is an excellent feeding grounds for them and great opportunity to get shots.

Winter time is the season for them there, however be forewarned.

Conowingo is an EXTREMELY well known and popular Eagle spot ...... after Thanksgiving you will have a tough time finding a parking space but you will run into folks from all over the place.

Last year people were down from the New England area and up from as far away as Florida and Kentucky.

You might even catch an Eagle that is being track by the Feds .........

Or one hauling dinner home .......

Shot 1 - Taken from a boat along the Maryland shore near the Mallows Bay ship graveyard. I was probably 30-ish yards from the eagle.

Shot 2 - Taken from the parking lot at Tim's Rivershore; perhaps 40-50 yards.

Shot 3 - Taken from a boat on the Virginia side near Dumfries; we were probably 30-40 yards away.

Great shots. I've been to Conowingo a few times; looking forward to going back starting in November when the population is "in season". I usually hit it on weekdays to avoid the crowds.

I actually started a Facebook page recently for other Conowingo photographers to share their photos: https://www.facebook.com/ConowingoDamBaldEagles

The power line cut on the road leading up to Tim's is just lousy with them.

I had a pretty close encounter with one on Cockpit Point road (south, off of Possum Point); apparently they like to land in the road.

Nice! I know those power lines pretty well; Possum Point / Quantico Creek is one of my haunts for eagle shots.

Is that shot of the road that's part of Potomac Shores?
