THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT What camera body, lenses and software do you think would be a good idea? Hogs and dogs at night is my goal, hers is party and vacation shots. I will get the lense adapter from Jaime at TNVC ( ya'll can use Vic). What else should be on my list? Initially I have a $1000.00 upper limit we have saved up for this project. Thanks I know we have a night vision forum, just want to focus here on the night time aspect. |

A Canon T3i with the Magic Lantern firmware can shoot video in what looks like night vision. There's a thread about it in this sub forum.

Personally I woud recommend a Nikon D7000 for the money you are talking about spending.

Go to your camera shop and see which brand and model fits your hands and has the features you want, and then go to KEH.com or B&H PHoto to the used department and see if it can be purchased there.
Look at the Canon 50d or 60d, and look at the Nikon D300 as with both platforms the lenses and other accessories are readily available. Personally I shoot Pentax with a K7 and K20d, but that is a choice made as I had old lenses and gear so it made more sense for me to get a platform where I could use what I already owned. Pentax makes a nice system, but there aren't as many choices for lenses and accesories. Sony makes a nice system that will take the old Minolta lenses. Again I would stick to the big two and buy used as much as possible from reputable vendors (KEH, B&H, Adorama). Get the best lenses you can afford as a consumer body and pro grade lens can give some exceptional results. Dave |

OK, right or democrat I am getting a T4i with the 18-135 f3.5 lense and deluxe accessory package.
will get a better lense in the 55 range later, looking for a f1.4 |

The T4i should do nicely for most projects I can think of.
