#1
DOF is good. I think you should've moved the lens a smidge to the left (or adjusted your crop) so his arm isn't cut off. Her eyes should be in focus. Totally Anal Review #2 They're both out of focus. Good job at getting his glasses angled down. This will help remove the glare so you can actually see the person's eyes. #3 Nothing really grabs me here. This might have been one of the rare occasions I would've gone with selective color instead of full grayscale. #4 I think the framing is just a smidge off again. I like how you captured her laughter, though. Hard shot to frame so you're not shooting up their nose. #5 Another framing issue. I think this would be more appealing in color. I'm sure the color of the shoes and flowers meant something to her. |

I'll agree on #2. They are out of focus and should have stopped it down to sharpen it up a bit, That lens was a rental Tamron and I did not know how it shot.
#3, I think I like it better in color as well. The flower just looks kinda bland up front.
And #5, I liked the flowers in color better, but I thought it made her shoes look dirty, the centers are like a greyish white color.
Here are some in color

I definitely prefer the color in those shots.
In the second I wonder how it would've looked with them in focus and the splash of color out. This didn't stick out to me until you reposted but a shift to your right might have been good. As shot he's got greenery growing out of his head and the wall looks clear behind him. It's tough to pay attention to all of these minute details but try to watch for poles, branches, power lines, etc. |

Good job OP! Weddings aren't my deal, but if you enjoy them, you can easily find yourself booked every weekend. In college, I used to shoot them and after print orders, I made about a grand on each one. The really good photographers charge thousands of dollars. You just can't pay be enough though |

If you want to get serious about it look up the PPA and see if there's a chapter in your area. They are usually a good source for programs and contests to help you grow.
Weddings ain't my thing either. Unless I'm the second shooter. I like doing the detail shots. Couldn't give a crap about dealing with the bridal party. |

You have potential in some of your shots, but I would suggest working on the focus. On a couple images the whole picture seems distorted. Keep it up, and keep practicing.

If I can jump in with my half-cent opinion. :) In shot 1&2 her eyes have dark bags that distract a bit. May want to play with lightening those up. In shot 2 looks like he's squinting against the glare. If its mid-day ( sun on his head?) may not be much you can do post but just be aware of in future.
I think your eye is good. Keep shooting. |
