I lost interest in WoW again. Lack of flight after max level killed it for me. I re-subbed to EvE Online.

Bumped my DK up to 90 last night, is it normal that it deleted my gear and everything in my bags? Did I miss that warning in the fine print? Any chance of getting it back or is it lost to the gold sink?

With the way leveling works in EVE you literally cannot catch up with the end game people who have been playing since the beginning. There is no curve perse, it's a sequence of tutorials and a lot of trial and error. It weeds out the retards pretty fast. Leveling is quick to begin but will very soon become a tedious and time consuming process. Traveling any distance in the game is mind numbing. I made it 2 months into the game and it completely lost its appeal. I'm not one to walk away from games but the time sink was too much. I actually said fuck it, I've better shit to do, and that was a first. |

My monk hit 85 last night. Tanking dungeons is starting to get a bit slow. I'm kind of amazed that the quality of players hasn't improved this far into the game. You don't have as much accidental stuff like ret paladins running around with righteous fury, now it's bossy dps players trying to run the show and pull mobs to set their own pace. So far the healers I've gotten have been cool with standing back and watching those players die.
Now I'm kind of dreading getting to 90 and running with boosted toons. Expecting classic huntard style derp all over again. |

I hit 99 on my DK yesterday doing a mix of questing and dungeons with my cousin on his holy priest, and have yet to see a competent hunter. Ran with one yesterday who kept MDing a rogue, not that it matters much with DK tank threat being what it is right now, but we got some good laughs out of it in mumble. I played my hunter for about an hour and can't believe how much they have dumbed down the class since last I played, where did all of the attacks go? Hard to believe there are people who can't figure it out now. |

Hunter derp has been as bad as it was in vanilla wow. I routinely get those oh shit moments when they instantly fire off a multishot and bring in additional packs of mobs I wasn't trying to pull. Plus the pets will always have growl on and mess with how I position the mobs and bosses. I've also run with hunters who had shitty attitudes and used misdirect to pull mobs and dump them on me because they felt the pace wasn't fast enough. Kind of glad my toon has shadowmeld.

The boosted 90s haven't even been a blip on my radar.
In every game I've ever played there's a wave of skill you have to catch. For WoD that wave has come and gone until the next raid comes out. We're now in what I think of as the sloppy period. Decent/good players on alts, casuals, and...worst of all...bad players on alts who think they know best because "I've got a level 100 already, this is an alt!" You can have good dungeon runs...but you're going to get a lot of groaners. I did better than I have the last couple of expansions...I got a couple of toons geared up in LFR before it was heavily populated with imbeciles. Did a shitload of heroics with really good random groups...that ship has definitely sailed as well. |

Did some Blackrock Foundry heroic last night, we got Gruul down after a few pulls, and are working Oregorger. Best pull we got him to like 30%ish. We still need a solid way to keep people alive on the transitions. New mechanics AFAIK.

View Quote For some reason I hopped on my old DK back on Arthas (PvP) on Friday, and just on a whim asked if any guilds were recruiting, and all the sudden I'm in this cool guild running all sorts of stuff. They knocked out BRF heroic last night in what seemed to be no time...but they definitely said it was way harder than HM. I just popped 100 and ilvl 610 before I hit the sack last night, so I won't get to be a part of the BRF fun for awhile, but they're continuing to run HM on all levels, and I haven't done any of that, either, so getting there is going to be fun. Really shocked, by the way, at how tame the world pvp was. Arthas used to be populated mostly with bitter griefers who had nothing better to do than ruin your fun. I won't say I went 85-100 without a fair number of scuffles...but far fewer than I expected, and no griefers, no campers. I really, really, really wish I had got my Arthas toons into Garrisons long ago though....leveling as fast as I did, I looked to see how short on resources I was for my level 3 upgrade...and I had 68 resources. It's gonna be a long, painful grind to 2000. |

I just got into my garrison @ 91 and just started the lvl3 upgrade. I am liking the new content. I really blazed through 80-90 in Pandaria and have not yet scraped the surface of the dungeons, but despite that I have taken some really good gear drops. My guild is pretty much all lvl 100s so I have to do the LFG deal on dungeons which is ok.

The community is what made the grinding and BS worth the time you wasted, and it's died off because of LFG/LFR. You don't even need a guild anymore really. I got to 91 after the expansion came out and said fuck it. Star Wars The Old Republic was really a single player game with the option for multiplayer. The only reason to interact with other players is IF you felt like running an instance/raid. And even then, you aren't reliant on a committed group of pals all working towards a common goal. With old(er) MMORPGs like EQ or WoW not only did you need a committed guild to run end-game content, but those individuals had to put forth individual effort to get to a point of being able to do end-game content (e.g. gearing up, leveling trade skills, etc.). The sum was when your pals/guild accomplished end-game content it really felt like an achievement. IMO the industry has swung the MMORPG pendulum from hardcore (EQ and vanilla WoW end-game raiding) to too easy (Star Wars ToR, et al.). I haven't played a MMORPG in close to a year now, and have a few on my radar that might have potential once released, but overall I feel like what made MMORPGs fun and memorable games has been tossed aside in the name of appealing to a perceived wider "casual gamer" audience. But the reality is casual gamers come and go quickly, thus leaving developers struggling to rapidly condense servers, transfer characters, and figure out how to make money with their game. |

I'm still plugging along I have several new alts and working toward another 100 toon now 94. I have Horde and Alliance toons on related servers. I left my last guild because of the elitism. They had all been playing forever and some really disliked newbs and would give you a tell to inform you that your newbishness was boring and annoying
My cousin formed a few guilds on both factions and I joined her. I began leveling toons and saving gold waiting for the new update. I heard the harbor was going to required like 20k gold? I stopped working up my garrison to save farming savage blood to sell. I joke and call it World of Garrison. |
