Quoted: I'm going to have to agree with this. I have already stopped playing, no interest in following the path as it is boring, nothing else much to do in the game once you max out your suit/ship/gun. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: I'm officially voting this game as the worst game I've played in the past 5 years. It has/had a lot of potential, but the company and community managers (or lack there of) have been missing for over a month. Sean Murray's last Tweet on the No Man's Sky Twitter was August 18th! The only word on fixes and updates has been on their website with minor bug fixes and empty promises. GameStop is offering $15 for trading it in towards another game. BF1 reservation here I come. Sad to say I'm in the same boat. It's been almost a month since I've played now that I've maxed my exosuit, and I just don't see how grinding to fully max my ship is going to improve playability. After that it is wash rinse repeat, move along to the galactic core but it sounds like reaching that end game is a major letdown. I think I'll take a break for a while and hope some new features get implemented. If we had real time MMO play with base building options I could see this being a lot more fun... Or even some specific quests like escorting freighters would increase replayability. |

Curious to see how this game is doing so I popped into the game's Reddit today...
Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) in the UK has officially contacted Hello Games and Valve, requesting a response in regards to the trailers, screenshots, and general information on the Steam store page of No Man's Sky being misleading. Link The ASA has requested a response from the companies on the following issues: Videos: -User interface design -Ship flying behaviour (in formation; with a ‘wingman’; flying close to the ground) -Behaviour of animals (in herds; destroying scenery; in water; reacting to surroundings) -Large-scale space combat -Structures and buildings as pictured -Flowing water -Speed of galaxy warp/loading time -Aiming systems Screenshots: -Size of creatures -Behaviour of ships and sentinels -Structures and buildings as pictured Store Page in general: -Quality of graphics -References to: lack of loading screens, trade convoys between stars, factions vying over territory ASA also commended on videos and marketing material (such as the IGN previews) elsewhere and said this: We will ensure the advertisers are made aware of any points relating to other marketing material under their control (such as the Hello Games YouTube channel and website)...The outcomes of ASA investigations are cross-applicable to other marketing making the same claims, so any decision reached in relation to the Steam page would apply to other advertising for No Man’s Sky where the same (or materially similar) claims appear. This game is boring the heck out of me. I almost have my exosuit maxed out. The "blueprints" all seem the same to me. All worlds seem the same. The byline should be, "18 Quintillion planets, and all of them have the same $#!+ on each of them."
|
|
I've definitely got my $60 out of this game but I'm now in the same camp everyone else is. There is nothing to do anymore. Had the center been something cool I would have traveled there

Perhaps my $50 will contribute to some awesome DLC. View Quote Kind of getting the vibe that they may take their money and run at this point. They've maintained total silence and seem to want to just ride this one out. I mean, shit, at least the division devs were making changes at this point. Not good ones, but they were doing something. |

I don't know, I like it. It's very relaxing to me after a hard days work. I like to just land and wander.

Last weekend I did a bunch of outpost grinding to try and get an Atlas Pass V3 schematic, but it sounds like whatever is behind those doors is a letdown anyway. The No Man's Sky Subreddit imploded last night. The main mod went crazy and removed every other mod, as well as purged all the subreddit's content. Official Reddit admins had to come in and fix everything.
I haven't played this game in a month yet I can't stay away from all the drama surrounding this game |
|
I uninstalled and removed it from my steam list after my 2nd refund request was denied. Im only here now because i was cleaning out old bookmarks on my phones browser and thought id see the latest which raises the question: is disappointment still disappointment if you expect it?

View Quote I managed to get $13.20 in trade credit for No Man's Sky at GameStop towards Battlefield 1. I'm still checking the NMS Reddit daily to see the latest drama. The only employee of the game who has said anything about the game publicly in the last month is Paul Weir, who's in charge of the audio in the game. https://twitter.com/earcom/with_replies |

Something's happening over at Hello Games. HG put out a tweet today saying "No Man's Sky was a mistake." Sean Murray has come out from hiding and was first saying the tweet wasn't him, but now is saying it was? The whole thing is a mess...

Just checking in to see if anything new was going on with the game. I got bored with it in a matter of hours.
Nothing more than an exercise in resource management. Later, since, repeat, ad infinitum. |
|
So yeah, Steam is apparently being dicks about issuing refunds for NMS despite the massive amounts of issues people are having with it. Performance issues as well as the whole false advertising thing and even though I've heard reports of steam being generous for refunds, I'm a bit suspicious. I know a few people that have been refused on multiple appeals to the refund process, myself included.
I'm just slightly over the rather arbitrary 2 hour time limit and been fighting with them about it. Their latest refusal says that due to the purchase date, it's no longer eligible for a refund. Well, no shit. If you had refunded it when this all started it would have been eligible. FFS. This whole thing has taught me 2 things. 1 - don't buy a game when there were no review copies sent out early. 2) Don't expect any sort of support from Steam, and consider acquiring games elsewhere in the future if options are available. I won't be spending any more money with them unless there is no alternative. |

Game's developers are still silent. Glad I sold the game when I did because it's now only worth about $3 at GameStop |
|
Today's the day when the game developers broke the silence. An update (and a pretty impressive update at that) has dropped. This update brings tons of things including controlling freighters, formation flying, and most importantly, base building.
What a wild ride this game has brought. |
|
yeah. huge patch released today.
hopefully this is the first of more, I think they're moving in the right direction. |
|
The foundation patch royally bjorked SLI. We are talking about major shader and texture flickering on an instant seizure scale. Warning to those that may have health problems.
Clearing the shader cache does not work to fix it, but does improve performance. |
|
Wow. That is a big update! Why in the heck were they so silent all these months, watching the player base drop down to hundreds of players?
I'll have to pop back in to check out the new stuff, but it looks like they fixed some of my minor complaints from the original release, and the low fly mod has already been adjusted to work with 1.1. If they had just pushed a couple of these little complaints earlier the whole NMS scene wouldn't have seemed dead for months. - Increased the number of different NPC character models generated per system (Was pretty immersion-breaking to have only 6 different guys show up to a space station, sometimes having 2-3 copies of the guy on board) - Improved navigation in discovery UI (hope they have an "upload all discoveries" option!) - Reduced average building frequency (seeing a building every 500m made every planet you "found" actually feel fully explored - Improved terrain generation algorithms - Improved and extended blend areas between different terrain noise types - Planets are now scannable from space to see their resources - Added damaged ship effect on AI starships - Ambient background fauna now checks for the presence of creatures (hopefully no more hearing the background track from a Rainforest Cafe on a barren planet) |

Is this update only for the PC?
I have the PS4 version. Am I SOL? |

Jumped in and tried it out post patch last night. Seems that I completely forgot how to play...
I spawned in at a space station that had absolutely ZERO visitors the entire time I was hanging out. When I did leave a huge fleet of about 25 freighters came into town. I went down to an unexplored planet and I can say that it was quite barren. No bases or fauna at all. I was unable to mine a lot of items since apparently I now need a improved mining laser... Left that planet and went to another. Found some outposts to visit. A lot of the same. Also seems they increased the words you can learn. I was able to get Gek conversations at about 95% before the patch but now I am only getting about 50% of the words. Tried making a base just to do it. Really do not see a point in doing so other than to make a quick way to get to the space station for credit farming. |

Is this update only for the PC? I have the PS4 version. Am I SOL? No, I updated mine on Monday. Has it made the game more "enjoyable"? I only got to play it for about an hour on Monday night. It definitely added some interest to the game. It took me almost all that time to figure out how to start building. You have to build a transmitter and have it search for a habitable building. |
|
With the all the features added, did they at least add a point to the game?
Cool, you can now build a base... for what? Isn't the point of the game to get to the center of the universe? |
